The University of Córdoba appoints two tenured professors of Botany and Edaphology

The University of Córdoba has appointed Javier López Tirado and Antonia María Rojano Delgado as associate professors, pursuant to the access competition resolved by the qualifying commission. The decision was adopted by the institution’s Rectorate through the Resolution of November 3, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) No. 215, corresponding to Friday, November 6, 2026, on page 14559.

The appointment follows the competition convened by a resolution of the University itself dated May 20, 2026, announced in the BOE of May 26, 2026, and in the BOJA of May 25, 2026, for the filling of university teaching body positions. The resolution is based on Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, and Royal Decree 678/2023, of July 18, which regulates state accreditation and the regime of access competitions for positions in said bodies, as well as the University statutes, modified by Decree 212/2017, of December 26.

Two positions, two areas of knowledge

The appointment affects two teachers and two different areas of the departmental map of the Córdoba institution:

• Javier López Tirado, associate professor in the area of knowledge “Botany,” assigned to the department of “Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology.”
• Antonia María Rojano Delgado, associate professor in the area of knowledge “Edaphology and Agricultural Chemistry,” assigned to the department of “Agricultural Chemistry, Edaphology and Microbiology.”

Both positions are resolved in a single administrative act, signed in Córdoba on November 3, 2026, by the rector, Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez, exercising the powers conferred upon him by university regulations.

From the competition to official publication

The resolution is based on the proposal of the competition’s Qualifying Commission, the body that evaluates the merits of the applicants and submits the appointment proposal to the Rectorate. The text recalls that the process is governed by state accreditation regulations and the concordant provisions of the University of Córdoba.

Publication in the BOJA constitutes the official act of communication of the appointment, following the usual channel for resolutions of Andalusian public universities. The announcement appears in section 2.1, “Appointments, situations and incidents,” within the heading dedicated to UNIVERSITIES, and is assigned text number 14559, with a length of one page.

Exhaustion of administrative remedies and appeal deadlines

The resolution ends the administrative route, therefore legal action against it may be taken through two channels and with different deadlines, counted from the day following its publication:

• Appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición), optional, within one month before the Rectorate itself, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
• Contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Córdoba, according to articles 8.3 and 46.1 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.

Impact on the teaching staff

The appointment consolidates two positions in areas of significant weight in the teaching and research activity of the University of Córdoba: Botany, linked to the study of flora and biodiversity, and Edaphology and Agricultural Chemistry, directly connected to agronomy and the agri-food sector of the province. The incorporation of these teachers as tenured faculty reinforces the stability of the involved departments and completes one of the access calls launched in May 2026, the progress of which has been published in installments in the regional bulletin throughout the autumn.
