The UEx appoints career officials as Auxiliary Service Technicians

The Rector of the University of Extremadura has appointed as career civil servants of the Auxiliary Service Technicians Scale (Physical and Sports Activity) the three candidates who passed the competitive examination process. The decision is formalized in the Resolution of October 2, 2026, of the Rector, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) No. 199, of October 15, 2026, within section II, Authorities and Personnel, with the official reference 2026062552. The text establishes that the taking of office must take place within a maximum period of one month from the day following its publication.

The three appointments

The annex of the resolution identifies the individuals who acquire the status of career civil servant in this scale:

• Eduardo Rodríguez López
• Juan Antonio Barquilla Núñez
• Iván Martínez Candelario

The appointment is agreed in accordance with base 9.3 of the call, which reserves for the Rectorate the formalization of the appointment once the fulfillment of the requirements demanded of the candidates proposed by the tribunal has been verified.

The selection process and its background

The resolution is issued in view of the proposal formulated by the Qualifying Tribunal of the selection tests for entry into the Auxiliary Service Technicians Scale (Physical and Sports Activity), convened through the competitive examination system and published in DOE No. 248, of December 26. The applied statutory framework is article 135 of the Statutes of the University of Extremadura, approved by Decree 163/2026.

The previous step was the Resolution of August 25, 2026, of the Management, which made public the final list of approved candidates (DOE No. 173, of September 7, 2026, reference 2026062262). That announcement, issued by delegation of the Rector in application of base 8.6 of the call, gave the selected candidates a period of twenty calendar days to submit the required documentation to the University’s Human Resources Area. The list of approved candidates coincides entirely with the three people now appointed.

Requirements, deadlines, and appeals

The resolution details the obligations accompanying the appointment:

• Taking of an oath or promise, in accordance with Royal Decree 707/1979, of April 5, as a requirement to acquire the status of career civil servant.
• Taking of office within a maximum period of one month counted from the day following the publication in the DOE.
• Declaration of incompatibility provided for in article 13 of Royal Decree 598/1985, of April 30, or the option or request for compatibility under article 10 of Law 53/1984, of December 26, on incompatibilities of personnel in the service of Public Administrations.

This act exhausts all administrative remedies, in accordance with Article 114 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, in conjunction with Article 38.4 of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the University System. An optional appeal for reversal (recurso potestativo de reposición) may be filed before the same Rectorate within one month of its notification, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the competent Court of First Instance within two months, pursuant to Articles 8.3, 14, and 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13. The resolution is signed in Badajoz by the Rector, Pedro M. Fernández Salguero.

Impact

With these three appointments, the selection process for the Auxiliary Service Technicians Scale (Physical and Sports Activity) of the University of Extremadura is concluded, thus moving from the selection phase to the effective incorporation of personnel. The publication in the DOE marks the beginning of the one-month period for taking office and activates the obligations of the oath and the declaration of compatibility, procedures without which the appointment does not take full effect. For the interested parties, the calendar is now strict: any delay in taking office or in the documentation of incompatibilities may compromise the definitive acquisition of the status of career civil servant.
