Terra Alta opens for public consultation the school grants for the 2026-2027 academic year
Por FactBox Admin

The Terra Alta County Council has initially approved the guidelines that will govern the granting of aid for the acquisition of school books, school and computer equipment, and school trips, as well as aid for attendance at nursery schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. The agreement is from the Governing Board dated October 29, 2026, and the announcement of public exhibition is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona (BOPT) on November 3, 2026, with the reference CVE 2026-10237. The guidelines will remain open for public information for twenty days starting from the day after publication.
The procedure is carried out in accordance with Article 124 of Decree 179/1995, of June 13, which approves the Regulations for works, activities, and services of local entities. During this period, the text can be consulted at the headquarters of the county council, at Povet de la Plana Street, 4, Gandesa, and on the corporate website, to submit claims and suggestions.
If no allegations are presented, the initially approved guidelines will become definitively approved without the need for a new express agreement. The granting of the aid is part of the multi-year call from the Provincial Council of Tarragona to finance assistance and service programs, mobility, and investment for county councils for the 2025-2027 period.
Recipients and types of aid
The aid is addressed to students registered in the Terra Alta region and enrolled in an educational center within the region, with two distinct lines:
- Aid for compulsory school books, compulsory school or computer equipment, and school trips, for students in the third year of the first cycle of early childhood education, the second cycle of early childhood education, primary education, and compulsory secondary education.
- Aid for attendance at nursery schools, for children registered in the region enrolled in authorized nursery schools in the territory, corresponding to the first and second years of the first cycle of early childhood education.
The assessment combines the socioeconomic situation of the family unit with specific circumstances accredited by the family and, if applicable, the report from social services. The EBAS of Terra Alta (Basic Social Assistance Team) is involved, assessing cases where there are no objective data to score the application.
Maximum amounts per person
The amounts are set based on family income, the obtained assessment, the budget assigned by the Provincial Council of Tarragona, and the number of favorable applications. The maximums per person are:
- Nursery schools, with a maximum period of 10 months: €80.00 for the daycare service; €90.00 with a lunchbox dining service; and €100.00 with a catering dining service.
- School books, school materials, and trips: €100.00 for early childhood and primary education, and €130.00 for compulsory secondary education.
Access to the call for applications is subject to income thresholds calculated according to the countable members of the family unit:
- €13,861.50 for the first primary adult provider.
- €6,930.70 for the second adult and other adults in the family unit.
- €4,158.45 for each child in the family unit.
Additionally, the turnover threshold is set at €172,000.00 and the net capital gains threshold at €1,900.00. Deductions are applied to the calculated income, such as 50% of the income provided by members other than the primary providers, €500.00 for commuting when the student travels a minimum of 3 km or more than 25 minutes without free school transport, €1,320.00 per sibling in single-parent families, €800.00 for children in foster care, and €3,000.00 per sibling when the applicant proves a disability of 33% or more.
Deadlines, submission, and resolution
The deadline for submitting applications is 20 calendar days from the day after the publication of the call in the BOPT, and none will be accepted after the deadline except in the case of new enrollment or motivated social need. Applications can be processed electronically through the electronic office of the comarcal council or in person at its offices, by appointment, and also at municipal town halls, which will forward them via EACAT.
The Comarcal Governing Board resolves the files based on reports from the Education Area and, if applicable, from social services. The proposal is published on the notice board of the electronic office, with 10 business days to submit allegations, and the final resolution is disseminated on the e-notice and edicts board of the comarcal council. An administrative contentious appeal may be filed against the agreement approving the bases before the Administrative Contentious Court of Tarragona within two months, or optionally, a request for reversal before the Comarcal Governing Board within one month. The announcement is signed by the president, Joan Aubanell Sabaté.
The opening of this process sets the rules of the game for the families of the region before next year’s call: knowing the income thresholds and maximum amounts allows for the anticipation of the necessary documentation —from expense receipts to the IBAN or the student’s IDALU code— and prevents applications from falling outside the deadline in a region where the cost of books and nurseries weighs particularly heavily on the family economy.
