Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Education, Science and Universities of the Government of Aragon has authorized the private center La Salle Montemolín in Zaragoza to implement three units for 2 to 3-year-olds of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education, with 60 school places, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year. The decision is detailed in Order ECU/1293/2026, of August 24, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 174, of September 8, 2026 (official reference: BOA20260908013).
The modification of the authorization was processed at the request of the representative of the entity owning the center, who requested the expansion of its educational offer. The file included reports from the Projects and Works Unit of the Provincial Service of Education, Science and Universities of Zaragoza, which verified compliance with regulations regarding minimum spaces and the adequacy of the facilities according to the approved plans.
The center and its new configuration
La Salle Montemolín, with code 50007479 and address at José Galiay Street, 11 in Zaragoza, is a private center for Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education owned by Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas. Following the modification, the center is configured with the following teachings:
- First cycle Early Childhood Education: 3 units with 60 school places (20 per unit).
- Second cycle Early Childhood Education: 9 units with 225 school places.
- Primary Education: 18 units with 450 school places.
- Compulsory Secondary Education: 12 units with 360 school places.
Regulatory framework and processing
The order is issued in accordance with Royal Decree 332/1992, of April 3, regarding authorizations for private teaching centers to provide non-university general regime teachings, and by virtue of the powers provided for in Decree 141/2026, of July 29, of the Government of Aragon. The signature is produced by delegation, according to Order ECU/201/2024, of February 23, which grants the head of the General Directorate of Planning, Centers and Vocational Training the competence to grant, modify, and extinguish these authorizations.
The document, signed by Director General Luis M. Mallada Bolea, further establishes that the Provincial Service of Education, Science and Universities of Zaragoza, following a report from the Education Inspectorate, will expressly approve the list of personnel who will teach at the center.
Effects and conditions
The order will take effect starting from the 2026/2027 school year and will be officially communicated to the Registry of Non-University Educational Centers of the Autonomous Community of Aragon. It is specified that the modification of the authorization does not imply educational funding (concierto) for the newly authorized teachings, and that the center must comply with current regulations regarding hygienic, acoustic, habitability, and safety conditions, as well as those relating to architectural barriers and the Technical Building Code.
Against this order, which exhausts administrative remedies, an optional appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición) may be filed before the Minister of Education, Science, and Universities within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months, counted from the day following its publication in the bulletin.
The expansion of the first cycle of early childhood education at La Salle Montemolín reinforces the educational offer of the city of Zaragoza for families with children aged 2 to 3 years, a schooling stage in full expansion. With 60 new places, the center consolidates its educational project from the earliest stages, although without public funding for these teachings, representing an additional private alternative in the school map of the Aragonese capital.
