La Sénia opens grants of up to 2,000 euros to renovate shops

The La Sénia City Council has announced grants for the renovation of commercial establishments, catering businesses, and professional offices located within the urban area of the municipality, with an eligible amount of up to 30% of the cost of the work or action and a maximum of 2,000 euros per application. The call, signed by Mayor Maria Victoria Almuni Balada on October 19, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 29, 2026, with the official reference CVE 2026-09977 (pp. 1-4).

The announcement is the summary of the call registered in the National Grants Database (BDNS) under number 937806, which is also the call code and the announcement identifier 223744. The publication is made in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Grants, and the full text can be consulted in the same BDNS. The summary includes both the Spanish and Catalan versions of the same announcement.

Up to 2,000 euros per premises and a single concept

The summary establishes a cap per application and a set of time limits to avoid accumulation:

Eligible amount: up to 30% of the cost of the work or action, with a maximum of 2,000 euros.
The grant can only be requested for a single concept; if the promoter presents expenses for several actions, only the type of action with the highest expense is taken into account.
A ceiling of 2,000 euros over a 5-year period for the same establishment, summing all concepts.
A grace period of 10 years to re-apply for aid for actions of the same concept.
If the sum of all granted subsidies exceeds the budget line, a proportional distribution is made until the credit is exhausted.

Regarding the available funds, the announcement indicates that the budget credit to which the grant is attributed is 439,770.00 and that the total maximum amount of the announced grants is 10,000.00 euros.

Four types of eligible works

The eligible actions are grouped into four blocks:

Partial exterior renovations: exterior painting of the facade, maintenance or repair of roofs, rainwater downpipes, and partial renovations of any kind.
Flooring and interior cladding: interior painting of walls, installation and repair of floors (planks, parquet, carpet, microcement, ceramics) and cladding (wood, PVC, wallpaper, bricks, stone, tiles).
Bathroom adaptation and accessibility: handrails, ramps, accessible and adapted bathrooms, support bars.
Others: exterior signage (signs, vinyls, canvases), improvement of shop windows, inventoriable material (cash registers, computers, televisions, industrial machinery, tables, chairs, shelving), fire extinguishing installations and interior electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, drinking water pipes, and air extraction installations.

Who can apply and how

Eligible beneficiaries may be natural or legal persons who have registered the activity of a commercial establishment, restaurant, professional office or similar, or who, without having registered it, start it before the subsidy period ends. It may also be requested by persons who own or rent a commercial premises or restaurant and take actions to promote the opening of new activities. In all cases, the properties must be within the urban area of La Sénia.

The processing is electronic through the headquarters of the Ajuntament de la Sénia, with a generic application accompanied by the following documentation:

Bank ownership certificate in the name of the applicant, or annex 1 completed and stamped by the banking entity.
Prior authorization from the property owner (annex 2) if the applicant is not the owner.
Explanatory report of the invoices (annex 3) and invoices with proof of payment in the name of the activity owner.
Declaration of responsibility (annex 4) signed by the applicant.
Photographs of the area of intervention before and after the works.
Project or valued memory, where applicable and if it has not been submitted with the application for the building permit.

Self-employed workers may submit the documentation in person at the Punt de Servei al Ciutadà (PAC) of the City Council, at Passeig de la Clotada, 6, or at any of the places provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.

Deadline, payment and notification

The deadline for submitting applications set by the summary is October 8, 2026, a date prior to the publication of the announcement in the bulletin, October 29, 2026. The payment of the subsidy is made after justifying all the required documentation, and the resolution is notified to the interested parties according to article 45 of Law 39/2015, with publication in accordance with articles 41 and following of the same regulation.

The call is of particular interest to freelancers, merchants, and owners of premises in the center of la Sénia, as it allows for the coverage of part of the renovation of shop windows, accessibility, or facilities of establishments already in operation, as well as empty premises that are intended to be reopened. It is advisable to verify the submission deadline in the full text published in the BDNS (937806) before preparing the application, given that the date indicated in the summary precedes the publication in the BOPT.
