La Rioja sets the call for interim teachers for the 2026/2027 academic year

Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Educational Management of the Department of Education and Employment of La Rioja has issued the instructions that will govern the calling of applicants to hold teaching positions under an interim regime during the 2026/2027 academic year. Resolution 31/2026, of August 25, and Resolution 32/2026, of August 24, are published in the Official Gazette of La Rioja number 164, of August 27, 2026, in section II of Authorities and Personnel.

Both resolutions are based on Order 3/2016, of March 31, of the Counselor of Education, Training, and Employment, which regulates the provision of non-university teaching positions under an interim regime. Article 5.2 establishes that the calling to cover needs after the start of the academic year will be carried out preferably electronically, in accordance with the instructions issued by the general directorate competent in teaching personnel matters.

Calendar and first call

The first call of the academic year will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026, according to the calendar approved by the Resolution of June 5, 2026, of the General Directorate of Educational Management. During the month of September, destinations will be published twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, and from October 1, they will be published daily, from Monday to Friday, always before 11:00 AM.

  • In September, applicants will have 24 hours to request destinations, from 1:00 PM on the day of the call until 12:59 PM the following day.
  • From October 1, the period is reduced to 2 hours, between 12:00 PM and 1:59 PM on the same day.
  • Applications shall be submitted electronically through the destination allocation application at www.educarioja.org, using an electronic signature or electronic ID (DNI).

Types of destinations and allocation

Offered destinations can be classified by vehicular language (ordinary or bilingual in English), by displacement (ordinary or itinerant), by specialty affinity (ordinary or non-affiliated), and by working day (full, 2/3, 1/2, or 1/3). The guiding information for each position includes the cause of the substitution—leave of absence, new need, license, reduction of working hours, service commission, union release, resignation, or special services—and the expected duration (short, medium, or long).

  • Bilingual destinations will be allocated only to those who prove the required linguistic competence.
  • Part-time, itinerant, and non-affiliated destinations will only be allocated upon express request.
  • Assigned destinations are non-renounceable; renouncing after allocation entails exclusion from the waiting lists.

Updated lists and resources

Resolution 32/2026 makes public the updated lists of applicants for all bodies and specialties, along with the lists of excluded individuals and those who have been declared unavailable for the entire school year. These lists will be published on September 1, 2026 at www.educarioja.org.

Against these lists, interested parties may file an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the Counselor of Education and Employment within one month of their publication, in accordance with articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015 and article 52 of Law 4/2005 of La Rioja. Incorporation into the assigned posts must take place on the first school day following the publication of the assignment.

The publication of these resolutions is key for thousands of Riojan teachers and educational centers, which begin the school year with a clear calendar for filling vacancies and substitutions. The call on September 4 marks the beginning of a process that, starting in October, will become daily to ensure that teaching needs are met throughout the community.
