La Rioja approves subsidies for victims of terrorism and local police officers

The Government of La Rioja made public last Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the details of the economic aid and subsidies intended for organizations of victims of terrorism and for municipalities for the improvement of local security. This publication is carried out through Resolution 16/2026, of August 14, issued by the General Technical Secretariat of the Ministry of Health and Social Policies, with the aim of complying with the legal obligation to publish quarterly the subsidies granted in the Official Gazette of La Rioja (BOR).

The document, registered with verification code BOR-A-20260818-III–3224 and published on page 14424 of issue 157 of the BOR, is the result of two specific calls for the 2026 financial year. The first was opened on February 11 by the Ministry of Health and Social Policies to support organizations that represent and defend the interests of those affected by terrorism in the autonomous community. The second, convened through Resolution 27/2026 and published in May, is aimed at municipalities with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants to modernize their police services.

Support for organizations of victims of terrorism

One of the main lines of this resolution is the granting of a total of 30,000 euros allocated to the second quarter of 2026. The amount is distributed among the main regional and national organizations operating in La Rioja:

• Association of Victims of Terrorism: 11,208.80 euros.
• Riojan Association of Victims of Terrorism: 9,395.60 euros.
• Foundation for Victims of Terrorism: 9,395.60 euros.

The purpose of these grants is to cover operating expenses and the legal advisory and psychological support activities that these organizations offer to family members and those affected by terrorist violence.

Equipment for small municipalities

In parallel, the regional Executive has approved the investment of 102,461.40 euros for eight Riojan municipalities. This line, which has a total budget credit of 110,000 euros, seeks to finance the purchase of specific equipment and the technological modernization of local police forces. The beneficiary entities and the amounts granted are:

• Calahorra City Council: 18,683.65 euros.
• Alfaro City Council: 15,881.10 euros.
• Nájera City Council: 14,713.38 euros.
• Arnedo City Council: 13,312.10 euros.
• Rincón de Soto City Council: 12,611.46 euros.
• Haro City Council: 11,910.83 euros.
• Lardero City Council: 10,743.10 euros.
• Villamediana City Council: 4,605.78 euros.

Administrative procedure and deadlines

Resolution 16/2026, signed by Rafael Sáenz Ortiz in Logroño, was drafted following a rigorous process that included evaluation by the Assessment Committee and the favorable reports from the Delegated Audit Office. Interested parties who do not agree with this resolution may file an appeal for reconsideration with the Minister of Health and Social Policies within one month of notification, in accordance with Law 39/2015 on Common Administrative Procedure.

The approval of these subsidies represents significant support both for social cohesion and recognition of victims, as well as for public safety in the municipalities with the lowest economic capacity in the region. These initiatives reinforce the regional government’s commitment to the most vulnerable groups and to providing the necessary resources to guarantee security at the local level.
