La Riera de Gaià approves the renovation of the Escoles Velles

The La Riera de Gaià City Council has initially approved the renovation works project for the Old Schools building, with a total budget of 183,787.74 euros, VAT included. The agreement was adopted by mayoral resolution 411/2026, signed by Mayor Joan Casas Torras, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 23, 2026, with the official reference CVE 2026-09879. The project is subject to public consultation for 30 business days so that interested parties may submit claims and allegations.

The published text contains the operative part of the resolution, which includes two agreements: the initial approval of the works project and its public exhibition via an announcement in the provincial gazette and on the municipal electronic office. The document is based on a project drafted by Alba López Dorado, which sets the cost of the action and breaks it down between the material execution of the work and the tax levied on the contracting.

The announcement attributes the date of October 26, 2026, to the resolution, while the mayor’s electronic signature is dated October 22 and the publication in the provincial gazette, October 23.

A budget of 183,787.74 euros

The cost of the renovation is divided into two concepts, according to the operative part of the resolution:

• 151,890.69 euros as the budget for the works project.
• 31,897.04 euros as Value Added Tax (VAT).
• 183,787.74 euros in total, the figure recorded in the initial approval agreement.

The project is titled “RENOVATION OF THE OLD SCHOOLS BUILDING” and is the sole object of the agreement, which does not detail the execution schedule of the works or the method of financing the expenditure in the announcement.

Thirty business days to object

The second agreement of the resolution submits the approved project to public consultation for a period of thirty business days. Publicity is carried out through two channels:

• Announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona.
• Publication on the electronic office of the La Riera de Gaià City Council.

During this period, interested parties may submit any claims and allegations they deem relevant against the project. The deadline is calculated in business days, not calendar days, according to the wording of the agreement.

Project consultation and nature of the agreement

The technical documentation can be consulted electronically at the electronic office and on the municipal web portal, as well as in person at the offices of the La Riera de Gaià City Council, during public office hours from 09:00 to 14:00.

The resolution specifies that, as it is a non-qualified procedural administrative act, no type of appeal may be filed. Therefore, the initial approval does not close the path for participation: any allegations submitted within the deadline must be resolved before the final approval of the project.

The news has a direct impact on the residents of La Riera de Gaià, who have 30 working days to examine the reform project of a municipal facility and to submit any objections before the work is definitively approved and can be contracted.
