The Region announces the entrance exam for Sailing Sports Technician

The General Directorate of Vocational Training, Special Regime Education, and Lifelong Learning of the Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the Region of Murcia has announced the specific entrance examination for the programs leading to the title of Sports Technician in Fixed-Rig Sailing and Sports Technician in Free-Rig Sailing. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia number 209, dated September 10, 2026, by means of Resolution 4335, dated September 3, 2026, signed by the Director General Luis Quiñonero Ruiz.

The exam is aimed at the initial intermediate-level cycle of sailing sports education, and its structure, contents, evaluation criteria, and sporting requirements comply with Annex VIII of Royal Decree 935/2010, of July 23, which establishes the title of Sports Technician in Sailing. The call is framed within the Order of September 2, 2010, which regulates entrance exams for sports education at the regional level, and Decree No. 181/2024, of September 12, which establishes the governing bodies of the Ministry.

Deadlines and Calendar

Registration opens on September 23 and will remain open until October 7. The full calendar for the call, as detailed in Annex I of the resolution, is as follows:

• Registration: from September 23 to October 7.
• Provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates: October 9.
• Correction of documentation: until October 26.
• Final lists: October 28.
• Examination dates: November 5 and 6.
• Publication of grades: November 9.
• Appeals: November 11 and 12.

The exam will be held at the sports facilities of the authorized private center Club Náutico de Águilas, at Paseo de Parra, 44, 30880, Águilas (Murcia). The event is subject to a minimum of ten registered participants.

Registration and Documentation

The application must follow the model in Annex II and be addressed to the convening General Directorate. The form is available on the Electronic Office of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, under procedure 1262, and may be submitted electronically or in person at the Corporate Citizen Service Offices and other registries provided for in Law 39/2015. The following are required for registration:

• Medical certificate or report accrediting fitness to perform a sports test.
• Compulsory Secondary Education Graduate degree or equivalent.
• Where applicable, the qualifications provided for in the third transitional provision of Royal Decree 1363/2007.

Applicants with disabilities must provide the request for adaptation, the official certificate of the degree of disability and, where applicable, the medical report specifying the necessary adaptations, the feasibility of which will be assessed by the tribunal.

Exemptions and evaluation

Those who prove any of the circumstances set forth in Article 26 of Royal Decree 935/2010 shall be exempt from taking the test, including:

• High-level athlete status.
• High-performance athlete status or equivalent.
• Having been selected by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation to represent Spain.
• Having achieved a ranking among the top five positions in world, European, or Spanish championships.

Passing the test is graded as FIT or NOT FIT, requires a positive evaluation in all criteria, and is effective throughout the national territory, with a validity of eighteen months from the date of completion. The evaluating tribunal will consist of a presidency, a secretariat, and three members with a Higher Sports Technician qualification, and its headquarters are located at Gran Vía Escultor Salzillo, 32, in Murcia.

The call for applications opens a direct access route to sailing sports training in the Region, with effects throughout the country, and reinforces the offer of special regime education linked to a sport with strong roots in the Murcian coast, as is the case in Águilas.
