Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the Region of Murcia has announced individualized school transport grants for the 2025-2026 academic year, with a maximum budget of 200,000 euros and amounts of up to 5,000 euros per student. The summary of the Order is published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) number 212, dated September 14, 2026, with official reference NPE: A-140926-4375.
The call, signed on September 7, 2026, by the regional minister Víctor Javier Marín Navarro, is aimed at thousands of families in the Region whose children must travel more than three kilometers to attend their educational center. The full text can be consulted in the National Grants Database (BDNS Identif.: 928237).
Beneficiaries and requirements
Students enrolled during the 2025/2026 academic year in compulsory education levels—Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education, and Special Education—in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, or in Basic Vocational Training, may apply for these grants, provided they do not have a suitable center in their town or area of residence.
- Travel more than 3 kilometers from the home to the center or to the nearest transport stop.
- The distance is reduced to 1 kilometer for students with physical motor limitations.
- Inability to use the school transport routes contracted by the Regional Ministry.
- For boarding students, transport to centers with residences is also covered.
Amounts by distance brackets
The amount of the individualized grant is graded according to the kilometers between the family home and the center:
- Up to 5 km: 360 euros per student per course.
- From 5 to 10 km: 500 euros.
- From 10 to 15 km: 640 euros.
- From 15 to 20 km: 780 euros.
- From 20 to 30 km: 1,060 euros.
- From 30 to 40 km: 1,340 euros.
- From 40 to 50 km: 1,620 euros.
- More than 50 km: 1,900 euros.
In any case, the maximum amount per student per course will be 5,000 euros. For weekend transport for boarding students, the amounts range between 312 and 760 euros, extendable up to 2,100 euros when duly weighted special circumstances occur.
Deadline and compatibility
The ordinary deadline for submitting applications will be 10 days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BORM. The regulatory bases were established by the Order of the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities of June 7, 2016, published in BORM number 133 of June 10, 2016.
These grants are incompatible with scholarships and study grants from the Ministry competent in education matters for the same purpose, unless it is proven that the actual cost exceeds the amount obtained, in which case partial or total compatibility may be recognized.
The call for applications represents key financial support for families in the rural and scattered areas of the Region, where the distance to the educational center affects access to compulsory schooling. With a budget of 200,000 euros and amounts that can reach 5,000 euros per student, the measure seeks to guarantee equal opportunities in access to public education.
