La Región aprueba las bases del Campeonato de Promoción Deportiva escolar 2026/2027

The General Directorate of Sports of the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports has approved the participation bases and technical rules for the sporting modalities of the Sports Promotion Championship of the Region of Murcia, corresponding to the “Physical Activity and Sport in School Age” Program for the 2026/2027 academic year. The resolution, signed on September 8, 2026, by the general director Francisco Javier Sánchez López, is published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia number 213, dated September 15, 2026, in section I. Autonomous Community (reference A-150926-4399).

The regulation is issued in development of Law 8/2015, of March 24, on Physical Activity and Sport of the Region of Murcia, and the Order of June 30, 2026, of the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, published in the BORM on July 6, 2026, which approved the school-age sports program for the next academic year. The championship is structured into five categories and its rules are contained in Annexes I, II, and III of the resolution.

Categories and ages

The competition spans from the youngest children to youth in the final cycle of secondary education, with ages determined by year of birth:

  • Benjamín: born in 2017 and 2018.
  • Alevín: born in 2015 and 2016.
  • Infantil: born in 2013 and 2014.
  • Cadete: born in 2011 and 2012.
  • Juvenil: born in 2009 and 2010.

As a general rule, participation in the immediately superior category is permitted according to what is established by the technical rules of each sport and, supplementarily, by federation regulations.

Modalities and competition system

The championship includes both team and individual sports. Among the former are basketball and 3x3 basketball, handball, futsal, 8-a-side football, volleyball, beach volleyball, tag rugby, mate, minivoley, multisport, and canoeing; among the individual sports, cross country, duathlon and triathlon, athletics, chess, table tennis, and badminton, among others.

The competition takes place in three phases:

  • Municipal-Interlocal Phase, organized by each City Council or local committee, which may adapt the technical rules to its sporting reality with prior authorization from the General Directorate of Sports.
  • Intermunicipal Phase, accessed by the champions of each municipal and interlocal phase.
  • Final Phase, featuring quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the regional final.

A regional phase will be contested in any modality when there are participants from at least five municipalities of the Region.

Registration and participation

Participation is carried out, as a general rule, through an educational center, and registration must be processed on the deportescolar.carm.es web platform, to be validated by the corresponding City Council. Athletes must prove their identity using a DNI, sports record, individual passport, or residence card in the case of foreigners.

Exceptionally, the General Directorate of Sports may authorize students from two centers to form the same team, provided they do not participate in the Sports Performance Championship in the same modality. In sports such as basketball, handball, futsal, and volleyball, only two students registered in the performance championship may be inscribed on the roster, with specific nuances for futsal, 3x3 basketball, triathlon, and beach volleyball.

Impact

The resolution affects thousands of students, educational centers, and city councils throughout the Region, which will see the participation conditions, the calendar, and the technical rules of each modality regulated for the next academic year. The formative nature of the program is reinforced by the obligation for coaches to ensure that all registered athletes play a significant amount of time, as well as the requirement to leave the facilities clean after each match.
