The SPTO publishes grants and renewals of industrial designs

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) has published in the Official Gazette of Industrial Property (BOPI) Volume III dedicated to industrial designs, corresponding to September 9, 2026. The gazette includes the grants, renewals, and expirations of industrial design registrations processed in accordance with Law 20/2003, of July 7, on the Legal Protection of Industrial Design.

The BOPI, edited by the OEPM, a body attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, is the official means of dissemination for industrial property titles. Volume III, number 7234, year CXL, contains the registration procedures for industrial designs, which are governed by Law 20/2003 and its implementing regulations. The grant agreements published are dated September 2, 2026.

Grants of new designs

The gazette publishes the grant of numerous industrial designs, including their registration numbers, applicants, and protected products. Notable among them are:

Suspensions due to formal defects

The registration procedure section lists the files suspended due to defects in the formal examination. The applicant has a period of one month to rectify them, in accordance with Article 10.2 of the Regulations of Law 20/2003. This is the case for file D 0540778-02, by Ricardo Bueriberi Sopale, relating to sports sneakers, suspended on September 2, 2026, due to inconsistencies between the presented views of the design.

Renewals and expirations

The gazette also publishes the granted renewals and the expirations due to lack of renewal. Among the renewals is that of HOSTELINNOVA, S.L., with twenty variants of registration D 0524909, all with a renewal grant date of September 2, 2026.

The periodic publication of Volume III of the BOPI is essential for the design and industrial property sector, as it publicizes the granted titles and allows interested parties to know the current registrations, suspensions pending correction, and rights that expire due to lack of renewal. Granting resolutions may be opposed within two months from publication, and other resolutions may be appealed via administrative appeal within one month before the management of the OEPM.
