The Southeast Mancomunidad allocates 1.5 million to clean up abandoned greenhouses

The Intermunicipal Association of Southeast Gran Canaria —comprising Agüimes, Ingenio, and Santa Lucía de Tirajana— has approved a grant in kind of 1,500,000 euros to clean abandoned greenhouses and improve the surroundings of the airport and the transit routes toward the southern area of the island. The call is formalized through Resolution number 2026-0583, dated September 3, 2026, and its extract is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 115, dated September 25, 2026, with the identifier BDNS 927879.

The aid is granted on a competitive basis and through early and urgent processing, under articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17. The regulatory bases are the specific grants Ordinance of the Association for the “Abandoned Greenhouse Cleaning Plan,” published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas number 144, dated November 27, 2024.

The call is conditional: its granting is subject to the suspensive condition that adequate and sufficient credit exists in the 2027 budget year, in which the expenditure will be executed. This amount comes from the granting resolution of a nominative grant in favor of the Southeast Association for the project “Employment plan for the improvement and upgrading of the airport-southern tourist area environment. 2026 Annuity,” granted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

Who can apply and for what

• Beneficiaries: public administrations or private entities that own plots within the intervention area of the cleaning plan and meet the requirements of the sixth point of the call.
• Object: to finance the cleaning of the plots included in the intervention area of the “Abandoned Greenhouse Cleaning Plan.”
• Declared purpose: the upgrading and improvement of the airport surroundings and the transit routes toward the southern area of the island.

Amount, deadline, and processing

• Funding: one million five hundred thousand euros (1,500,000.00 euros).
• Application deadline: twenty (20) business days starting from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
• Procedure: grant in kind, on a competitive basis, with early and urgent processing.
• Expenditure execution year: 2027, subject to the existence of credit.

The measure directly concerns the owners of plots with disused greenhouses in the three southeastern municipalities and the administrations with land in the area, who have twenty business days to apply for a line whose objective is to remove abandoned structures and recover the landscape of a strategic corridor for tourism and island transit.
