The Regional Government resolves editorial production grants with 126,246 euros

Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Junta de Castilla y León has resolved the 2026 call for grants aimed at financing the execution of editorial production projects of interest to the Community and the implementation of editorial internationalization projects through attendance at international book fairs or exhibitions. The granted budget amounts to 126,246.71 euros, distributed among 22 beneficiary projects. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (no. 173, of September 7, 2026) via Order CYT/865/2026, of September 2.

The call had been opened via Order of April 30, 2026, published in the B.O.C. y L. no. 84, of May 6. Pursuant to the tenth section of that order, the competent body to resolve the granting procedure is the head of the Regional Ministry competent in cultural matters, who has acted in accordance with the binding report of the Evaluation Commission. The grants are financed through budget allocation 10.03.334A01.7700Q.0.

22 beneficiary projects

Annex I of the order lists the subsidized entities and projects, both in the editorial production and internationalization modalities. Among the beneficiaries are publishing houses and bookstores from across the Community, with grants ranging between 4,000 and 6,000 euros per project:

  • Librería Universitaria León 1980, S.L.L. (internationalization, 91 points, €6,000)
  • La Maleta Ediciones, S.L. (internationalization, 70 points, €6,000)
  • Menguantes, S.L. (internationalization, 68 points, €4,525.64)
  • Ediciones La Uña Rota, S.L. (internationalization, 67 points, €6,000)
  • Ediciones Sígueme, S.A.U. (editorial production, 67 points, €6,000)
  • Editorial Difácil, S.L.U. (editorial production, 42 points, €5,200)
  • Libros del Páramo, S.L. (editorial production, 40 points, €4,000)

The minimum score required to obtain a grant was 40 points, as established in number 6 of the fifth section of the call.

The rejected

Annex II lists the applicants and projects that did not obtain a grant, along with the reason for rejection. Three applications were excluded for two different reasons:

  • Falken Solutios, S.L. (editorial production): rejected due to cause A, as book publishing is not its corporate purpose.
  • Ana Guerrero Arjonilla (editorial internationalization): rejected due to cause B, for not reaching the minimum score of 40 points.
  • Autismo Ávila – Sello Editorial La Estrella Azul (editorial production): rejected due to cause A, as it is not a publishing company.

It should be noted that Ana Guerrero Arjonilla does appear in Annex I as a beneficiary under the editorial production modality, with 40 points and a grant of 5,441.07 euros; therefore, only her internationalization project was rejected.

Appeal Deadlines

Order CYT/865/2026, which concludes the administrative process, may be optionally appealed for reversal before the head of the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport within one month, or directly through a contentious-administrative appeal before the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León within two months. Both deadlines are calculated from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León. The order was signed in Valladolid on September 2, 2026, by the Regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, José Alberto Díaz Pico.

The resolution consolidates public support for the Region’s publishing sector, combining the financing of the production of works of regional interest with the promotion of the international projection of publishers and bookstores in Castilla y León, a strategic sector for the dissemination of culture and books in Spanish.
