La Junta Electoral corrige el horario del local de campaña de Alcántara

The Zonal Electoral Board of Cáceres has rectified the edict in which it announced the list of official premises and public places reserved for the free holding of campaign events for the elections to the Congress of Deputies and the Senate on November 29, 2026. The correction is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres No. 0206, dated October 27, 2026, Section IV - Administration of Justice, with the official reference BOP-2026-5025 and the signature of the board’s secretary, María Ángeles Montero Parro. The change affects the only venue reserved in Alcántara.

The clerical error and its rectification

The announcement is based on Article 57.1 and 2 of the Organic Law 5/1985, on the General Electoral Regime, which mandates the reservation of official premises and public places for the free holding of campaign events. The board detected a “clerical error” in the edict disseminated on October 21, 2026 (BOP-2026-4943, pages 24091 to 24097, signed in Cáceres on October 18) and opted to publish the corrected text using the classic where it says / it should say format.

The rectified text is as follows:

  • Where it said: “ALCÁNTARA: Hall of the Casa de Cultura at Paseo Alto No. 7 (Available from Thursday to Sunday all hours and Fridays from 11:00 to 12:15 h)”.
  • It should say: “ALCÁNTARA: Hall of the Casa de Cultura at Paseo Alto No. 7 (Available from Thursday to Sunday, all hours, except Fridays from 11:00 to 12:15 hours)”.

The board orders the publication “as soon as possible” so that the correction takes the appropriate effect, and dates the document October 24, 2026. The correct reading is, therefore, the inverse of the previous one: the Friday time slot between 11:00 and 12:15 is excluded from electoral use, not additionally enabled.

An electoral calendar already underway

The call for general elections, set for Sunday, November 29, 2026, was made via Royal Decree 806/2026, of October 5, for the dissolution of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, published in the Official State Gazette on October 6, 2026. The edicts for the reservation of premises were published in the provincial gazette on October 21, barely three days after the original document was signed by the secretary of the Cáceres board.

The schedules declared by the local town halls in the area also outline the timeframe of the campaign: several municipalities detail specific availability between November 13 and 27. This is the case for Malpartida de Cáceres, which reserves its venues for “Friday, November 13,” “from Monday, November 16 to Friday, November 20,” and “from Monday, November 23 to Friday, November 27,” from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, or Torrequemada, with the Juan José Narbón Culture House available on Tuesday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 18 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Other local venues and correction precedents

The list from the Cáceres Zonal Electoral Board covers about thirty municipalities. In the capital, the edict of October 21 reserves four municipal sports facilities, all of which are available every day from 10:00 AM to 10:45 PM:

  • Moctezuma sports pavilion, avenida de la Hispanidad, s/n.
  • Mejostilla “Maestro Kim” municipal sports complex, calle Pureza Canelo.
  • “Santa Lucía” sports pavilion, calle Hervás, s/n (Aldea Moret).
  • Juan Serrano Macayo multipurpose sports pavilion, court 2, avenida del Brocense, 2.

The rectification is not an isolated case in the provincial bulletin. On October 26, 2026, the Plasencia Zonal Electoral Board published a correction of errors for its own edict of October 21, signed by its secretary, Pablo Núñez Fernández, which affected the venues in Ahigal and La Pesga (reference BOP-2026-5017).

What this implies for parties and candidates

The correction has immediate practical effects for the candidacies running in the province of Cáceres. Any campaign event scheduled in the hall of the Alcántara Culture House on a Friday between 11:00 AM and 12:15 PM lacks coverage in the official reservation and must be relocated to another time slot or another space on the municipal list.

The corrected error was particularly sensitive because the previous wording could be read in the opposite sense of the actual intent: where the town hall excluded a time slot, the edict seemed to enable it. With the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres on October 27, political forces now have the definitive schedule for a free venue in a municipality of just over a thousand inhabitants, and the board provides public record that the reservation does not cover all Fridays of the campaign.
