The Regional Government delegates the Andújar-Córdoba transport to the Córdoba consortium

Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Public Works and Mobility of the Regional Government of Andalusia has delegated to the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Córdoba Area the competencies for the management, control, and operation of the regular passenger service VJA-041 Andújar-Córdoba. The measure is detailed in a resolution from the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport dated August 18, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia (BOJA) number 164, dated August 25, 2026.

The delegation affects the public service concession contract for general-use regular passenger road transport in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, and entails transferring the ordinary management of a line that structures mobility between the capital and the Jaén municipality of Andújar to the Córdoba metropolitan entity.

Scope of the delegation

The resolution, which appears in the other provisions section of the gazette under text number 11211 (three pages), attributes the competencies regarding the management, control, and operation of the service to the consortium. This is a common mechanism by which the regional administration brings transport management closer to the metropolitan bodies of each area.

The VJA-041 service connects Andújar with Córdoba, a corridor of significance for the province due to its daily use by passengers. With this delegation, the consortium assumes the supervision of the fulfillment of the concession contract and the ordinary operation of the line.

Regulatory context

The delegation is part of the Regional Government of Andalusia’s policy of transferring the management of regular passenger road services to metropolitan transport consortia. In the same issue of the gazette, analogous delegations are published in favor of the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Granada Area for services VJA-032 (Granada-Sierra Nevada), VJA-096 (Cogollos Vega-Granada), and VJA-121 (Alfacar-Granada).

  • VJA-041 Andújar-Córdoba, delegated to the Córdoba Area Consortium.
  • VJA-032 Granada-Sierra Nevada, delegated to the Granada Area Consortium.
  • VJA-096 Cogollos Vega-Granada, delegated to the Granada Area Consortium.
  • VJA-121 Alfacar-Granada, delegated to the Granada Area Consortium.

Impact for passengers

The delegation brings decision-making regarding the service closer to the territorial reality of the Córdoba area, which may translate into more agile management of incidents, schedules, and service quality. For regular users of the Andújar-Córdoba line, the change means that the metropolitan consortium becomes the direct interlocutor in the management and control of the concession.

The measure reinforces the role of metropolitan consortia as a key element of mobility in Andalusia, in a context where the regional administration is betting on coordination between intercity and metropolitan transport.
