La Junta convoca ayudas de hasta 900 euros para el carnet B juvenil

The Regional Ministry of Mobility, Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence of the Regional Government of Castilla y León has announced grants of up to 900 euros to facilitate the obtaining of a Class B driver’s license for young people in the Community. The measure is published via the extract of the Order of September 28, 2026, in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) no. 190, of September 30, 2026, with the identifier BDNS 932041. The application period runs from October 1, 2026, to January 15, 2027.

The grants are awarded on a competitive basis and are governed by the rules approved by Order MTD/830/2026, of August 27, published in BOCYL no. 167, of August 28, 2026. The call has an initial allocation of four million euros (€4,000,000), which may be reinforced with a maximum additional amount of 100% before the resolution, without the need for a new call.

The stated purpose is to promote the mobility of young people and improve their employability and access to job opportunities, as well as to facilitate access to education, leisure, or healthcare, reduce isolation, and stabilize the population in rural areas. The Regional Ministry emphasizes that the Class B license is an indispensable requirement in a high percentage of job offers and a prerequisite for professional licenses (C, D, and C+E), and estimates a direct impact on a network of more than 250 driving schools in the Community. The Public Infrastructure and Environment Company of Castilla y León S.A. (SOMACYL) acts as the collaborating entity in the management.

Requirements for beneficiaries

  • Be at least 18 years old and no older than 30 within the year 2026.
  • Reside and be registered (empadronado) in a municipality of Castilla y León at least five years prior to the moment of obtaining the license.
  • Obtain the Class B driver’s license between October 1 and December 31, 2026.
  • Complete the training entirely in one or more approved driving schools with an open branch in Castilla y León.
  • Maintain registration in the Community, uninterruptedly, for at least three years after submitting the application.

Amounts based on the income of the household unit

The maximum amount per beneficiary is 900 euros and may never exceed the total cost of the subsidized action, neither individually nor in conjunction with other grants. The individual amount is set in brackets based on the income of the household unit, using the annual IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effect Income) for 14 payments of 2026 as a reference:

  • Less than 1.5 times the IPREM: up to 900 euros.
  • Between 1.5 and less than 2.5 times the IPREM: up to 750 euros.
  • Between 2.5 and less than 3.5 times the IPREM: up to 600 euros.
  • 3.5 times the IPREM or more: up to 450 euros.

Enrollment, theoretical and practical classes, and examination fees and traffic taxes, including their renewal, are eligible for subsidies. Expenses for medical and psychotechnical tests and application management fees are excluded.

Processing, evaluation, and resolution

Applications are submitted electronically through the electronic office of the Community Administration (tramitacastillayleon.jcyl.es), where the full text of the call for applications can also be consulted. The granting criterion is the income level of the household unit, with a priority order from lowest to highest income; reducing coefficients of 20% are applied for general large families and 30% for those of special category. In the event of a tie, the chronological order of entry into the registry prevails.

An evaluation commission composed of three officials from the general directorate competent in mobility matters will report on the applications. The resolution corresponds to the head of the Department, with a maximum period of six months from the day following the end of the application period; if this period passes without notification, the application is understood to be rejected. Payment is made in a single installment via transfer to the account indicated in the application.

With this line, the Junta seeks to reduce the economic barrier that delays the autonomy of young people from Castile and León and to combat depopulation: in an extensive and dispersed territory, a driver’s license is the key to accessing employment and basic services. The extract is signed by the counselor Cristina Sanchidrián Blázquez and the full text of the call can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database.
