The Regional Government announces 300,000 euros in grants for language studies

The Regional Ministry of Industry, Universities, Employment and Trade of the Junta de Castilla y León has announced, on a competitive basis, language study grants for university students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The measure is formalized in the Order of September 17, 2026, an extract of which is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) no. 188, of September 28, 2026, with the identifier BDNS 930412. The call is endowed with 300,000 euros, and each beneficiary may receive a maximum of 1,600 euros.

Purpose and amount of the grants

The subsidies cover the cost of tuition at a language center owned by a public university in Castilla y León and/or the costs of examination fees for linguistic accreditation tests. The maximum global amount of the assigned credit amounts to 300,000 euros, with a cap of 1,600 euros per beneficiary.

The regulatory bases are Order EDU/769/2020, of August 4, amended by Order EDU/919/2023, of July 14 (published in the B.O.C. y L. no. 175, of August 25, and no. 141, of July 24, respectively). Who can apply

• Students who have pursued undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral studies at one of the public universities of Castilla y León during the 2025/2026 academic year.
• Those who completed their studies at a public university in the Community during the 2024-2025 academic year.
• For tuition grants: must have formalized enrollment and passed the corresponding language courses in the 2025/2026 academic year.
• For examination fee grants: must have passed the accreditation tests convened by the language centers owned by public universities, associated with the Association of Higher Education Language Centers (Acles) according to the Certacles model, or by the entities listed in the annex of the call.

Family income requirements and exclusions

Applicants must prove a net family income for the year 2025 that does not exceed the following thresholds according to the number of countable members:

• 1 member: 14,818 euros.
• 2 members: 25,293 euros.
• 3 members: 34,332 euros.
• 4 members: 40,773 euros.
• 5 members: 45,572 euros.
• 6 members: 49,196 euros.
• 7 members: 52,780 euros.
• 8 members: 56,348 euros.
• From the eighth member onwards, 3,561 euros are added for each new countable member.

Excluded are foreign students enrolled in a public university in Castilla y León under any inter-university mobility program, as well as students who apply for the aid to cover tuition and/or the taking of placement tests at the Official Language Schools (Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas).

Application Period

The application period is 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the order in the BOCYL, that is, from September 29, 2026. The order is signed by the counselor Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones Fernández and is published on pages 48 and 49 of the bulletin.

The call for applications reaches students of public universities in Castilla y León in a course where language proficiency increasingly conditions academic mobility and access to the labor market. With a maximum of 1,600 euros per applicant and a family income threshold as a filter, the aid seeks to ensure that the cost of tuition and official accreditation tests is not an obstacle to completing linguistic training during university studies.
