The Regional Government grants extraordinary ESO awards to fourteen students

The Regional Ministry of Education of the Junta de Castilla y León has granted the Extraordinary Awards for Compulsory Secondary Education for the 2025-2026 academic year to fourteen students from all provinces of the Community. The decision is formalized through Order EDU/809/2026, of August 21, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 166, of August 27, 2026 (official reference BOCYL-D-27082026-166-6).

Each awardee will receive an accrediting diploma and a financial grant of 1,000 euros, which will be transferred to the bank account indicated in the application. Additionally, the list of winners will be communicated to the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training so that they may apply, upon registration, for the National ESO Awards convened annually by the aforementioned department.

Regulatory Framework

The granting of these awards is based on Order EDU/235/2016, of March 30, which regulates these prizes and has been modified by Order EDU/276/2018, of March 9, and by Order EDU/60/2025, of January 23. The call for the 2025-2026 course was carried out via the order of May 14, 2026, whose extract was published in the B.O.C. y L. number 92, of May 18, 2026, with identification number BDNS 905617.

The resolution is adopted upon the reasoned proposal of the Director General of Innovation and Teacher Training, once the test has been conducted and the report from the qualifying tribunals has been reviewed, in accordance with section eleven.2 of the call order. The order, signed by the regional minister María Pardo Álvarez in Valladolid on August 21, 2026, exhausts the administrative route.

Awarded Students by Province

The fourteen winners, ordered by province and alphabetically, are as follows:

• Ávila: Pablo Batalla Sáez (IES Jorge Santayana).
• Burgos: Teo Lozano Gómez (IES Comuneros de Castilla) and Nerea Pascual Casado (IES Vela Zanetti, Aranda de Duero).
• León: Javier Sola Aguado (IES Ordoño II) and Sergio Ramírez Robles (CPR Inf-Pri-Sec Peñacorada).
• Palencia: Paula Zuazua García (IES Alonso Berruguete).
• Salamanca: Manuel Mateos Sánchez (IES Fray Luis de León) and Vladyslav Vedenieiev (IES Vaguada de la Palma).
• Segovia: Daniel Sanz Martín (IES María Moliner).
• Soria: Claudia Gallardo Romero (CPR Inf-Pri-Sec Nuestra Señora del Pilar).
• Valladolid: Gael Rodríguez Esteban (IES Emilio Ferrari), María Fernández Ferrero (IES Núñez de Arce) and Iara Bayón Población (IESO Arroyo de la Encomienda).
• Zamora: Samuel Campo Pedrón (IES Claudio Moyano).

Effects and Annotation of the Award

The awarding of the prize shall be recorded in each student’s academic history by the center’s secretary and incorporated into their academic record. The communication to the Ministry shall be made indicating the First Foreign Language and, where applicable, the Mathematics option taken, for the purposes of participation in the national awards.

An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the order before the Counselor of Education within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León within two months, both periods being calculated from the day following its publication in the bulletin.

These awards recognize the exceptional achievement of students who have completed basic education in centers within the Community and represent an academic and economic stimulus for the best records of the ESO, in addition to opening the door to national competition.
