The Regional Government grants extraordinary ESO awards to fourteen students

The Department of Education of the Junta de Castilla y León has granted the Extraordinary Awards for Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) for the 2025-2026 academic year to 14 students from the nine provinces of the Community. The grant is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) number 166, dated August 27, 2026, by means of Order EDU/809/2026, dated August 21, signed by the counselor María Pardo Álvarez.

The order is issued under Order EDU/235/2016, dated March 30, amended by Order EDU/276/2018 and Order EDU/60/2025, which regulate these awards with the purpose of recognizing the special achievement of students who have completed basic education in centers providing secondary education in Castilla y León. The call for applications was made via the order of May 14, 2026, published in BOCYL number 92, dated May 18, with identification number BDNS 905617.

The awarded students

The annex of the order lists the awarded students, organized by province and alphabetically:

• Ávila: Pablo Batalla Sáez (IES Jorge Santayana).
• Burgos: Teo Lozano Gómez (IES Comuneros de Castilla) and Nerea Pascual Casado (IES Vela Zanetti, Aranda de Duero).
• León: Javier Sola Aguado (IES Ordoño II) and Sergio Ramírez Robles (CPR Peñacorada).
• Palencia: Paula Zuazua García (IES Alonso Berruguete).
• Salamanca: Manuel Mateos Sánchez (IES Fray Luis de León) and Vladyslav Vedenieiev (IES Vaguada de la Palma).
• Segovia: Daniel Sanz Martín (IES María Moliner).
• Soria: Claudia Gallardo Romero (CPR Nuestra Señora del Pilar).
• Valladolid: Gael Rodríguez Esteban (IES Emilio Ferrari), María Fernández Ferrero (IES Núñez de Arce) and Iara Bayón Población (IESO Arroyo de la Encomienda).
• Zamora: Samuel Campo Pedrón (IES Claudio Moyano).

The amount and content of the award

In accordance with the call for applications, each award consists of two elements:

• An accrediting diploma of the distinction obtained.
• A financial allocation of 1,000 euros, which will be transferred to the bank account indicated in the application or to the one subsequently communicated by the interested party to the General Directorate of Innovation and Teacher Training.

Communication and recording of the award

The Director General of Innovation and Teacher Training will communicate to the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training the list of awarded students, indicating the First Foreign Language and, where applicable, the Mathematics option taken, so that they may, upon registration, apply for the National ESO Awards convened annually by the Ministry.

Additionally, the awarding of the prize will be recorded in the student’s academic history by the center’s secretary and will be incorporated into their academic record.

Appeals

Against the order, which exhausts the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the Counselor of Education within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León within two months. Both periods are calculated from the day following its publication in the BOCYL.

The publication of these awards constitutes public recognition of the effort and academic performance of the Community’s students, and furthermore opens the door to national awards, making the resolution a reference of interest for families and educational centers across the nine provinces.
