The Regional Government authorizes the expansion of the Montoro electrical center to 160 kVA

The Territorial Delegation of Economy, Finance and European Funds, and of Industry, Energy and Mines in Córdoba has granted Edistribución Redes Digitales SLU the prior administrative and construction authorization to renovate the “Rodríguez” transformation center in the municipality of Montoro. The resolution, issued on June 11, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 163, dated August 24, 2026, with reference BOP-A-2026-2059 (file AT 81/25).

The action will allow the installed capacity of the center to be increased from 50 to 160 kVA, improving the capacity and quality of the electricity supply in the area.

Scope of the renovation

The project, titled “Power increase of distribution center CD 41787 ‘Rodríguez’ to 25 kV”, is located in the Cartagena area, polygon 18, plot 223, in the municipality of Montoro (Córdoba). It consists of an outdoor pole-mounted transformation center with a transformation ratio of 25/0.4 kV.

The main technical characteristics of the intervention are:

• Replacement of the current 50 kVA B2 transformer with a new 160 kVA B2 transformer.
• Adaptation of the APR fuses, with a rating of 10 A.
• Current installed capacity: 50 kVA; projected capacity: 160 kVA.

Regulatory framework and processing

The resolution is based on Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1, which regulates the activities of transport, distribution, marketing, and supply of electrical energy, along with Decree 9/2011 and Decree-law 26/2021, on administrative simplification of the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía).

Since no declaration of public utility was requested nor is it subject to Unified Environmental Authorization, the installation is exempt from the public information process provided for in article 125 of Royal Decree 1955/2000. The file received a favorable technical report from the Energy Department of the Delegation.

Conditions and deadlines

The authorization is granted with several mandatory conditions:

• The works must be executed in accordance with the project and its submitted annexes.
• The commissioning period will be 24 months from the date of the resolution.
• The holder must communicate the completion of the works for its final recognition and the extension of the operation resolution.
• The technical and safety conditions of the current regulations shall be respected, and the authorization is without prejudice to the rights of third parties and other necessary licenses.

The resolution, which does not exhaust administrative remedies, may be appealed via an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the head of the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines within one month. The document is signed by the territorial delegate, Agustín López Ortiz, and the provincial general secretary of Industry, Energy and Mines, Ángel Bravo Molina.

Impact for the area

The expansion of the “Rodríguez” transformation center responds to the need to reinforce the distribution network in the rural environment of Montoro, where the increase in power will allow for better service of current and future demand. For the residents and farms in the area, the improvement translates into a more stable supply with a greater capacity margin, a relevant step in the modernization of the electrical infrastructures of the Alto Guadalquivir region.
