The Regional Government extends first-time enrollment grants until November 5
Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Industry, Universities, Employment and Trade of the Junta de Castilla y León has extended until November 5, 2026, the deadline to apply for grants for students enrolling for the first time in the first year of a university Degree in the Community during the 2026/2027 academic year. The decision is formalized through the Order of October 20, 2026, whose extract is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Boletín Oficial de Castilla y León) no. 204, of October 21, 2026, on page 46, with the reference BOCYL-D-21102026-204-16 and the identifier BDNS 929595.
The measure comes as the initial calendar was about to expire: the original call set a deadline of one month from the day following the publication of its extract, meaning the window closed on October 21. The new order entirely replaces the section “Fifth.– Deadline for submission of applications” of the previous extract, which is now limited to a single sentence: “The deadline for submission of applications will end on November 5, 2026.”
Fifteen more days to gather documentation
The extension adds two weeks to the calendar and affects all applicants who have not yet formalized their request, without the regulation introducing changes to the requirements or the evaluation criteria. The text keeps the rest of the call’s articles intact and only modifies the deadline, so the conditions for accessing the aid remain those approved in September.
The order bears the signature of the regional minister Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones Fernández and was issued in Valladolid on October 20, 2026, one day before its official publication. The extract is disseminated under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, which require the publication of a summary of the call when the full text is disseminated through the National Subsidies Database.
Twelve million euros and competitive bidding
The master call is the Order of September 13, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León no. 183, of September 21, 2026, page 166 (reference BOCYL-D-21092026-183-17). Its regulatory bases are the Order IEM/621/2026, of July 7, published in gazette no. 131, of July 9, 2026, and its modification via the Order IEM/869/2026, of September 3, in no. 173, of September 7, 2026.
The key figures for the aid line are as follows:
- Total amount of the call: 12,620,000 euros.
- Additional amount planned, under article 16.3 of Law 5/2008, of September 25, on Grants of the Community of Castilla y León: up to 2,000,000 euros more, to address a greater number of applications.
- Maximum amount per beneficiary: the amount actually paid for the public price of academic services for the formalized enrollment, without exceeding the amount set by the public price decree for the academic year.
- Procedure: competitive bidding.
Who can apply and where to process it
Beneficiaries may be students who, in the 2026/2027 academic year, formalize and pay for first-year enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree or double Degree at any of the public universities of Castilla y León, accessing official university studies for the first time, and who prove all the required requirements. The call expressly equates first-year Bachelor’s Degree enrollment with that of the first year of any of the double Degree modalities offered by the public universities of the Community.
The declared purpose is to encourage access to higher education by providing financial support to students registered in Castilla y León during their first access to public university education, to cover the costs of academic services paid upon enrollment.
The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Grants Database, at the address https://www.infosubvenciones.es/bdnstrans/GE/es/convocatoria/929595, and also on the electronic office of the Administration of the Community of Castilla y León (https://www.tramitacastillayleon.jcyl.es), using the identifier BDNS 929595.
Impact for families
The extension provides leeway for students who have delayed their application due to lack of knowledge or because they have not yet gathered the proof of payment for enrollment, and prevents the closing of the deadline from coinciding with the weeks of the heaviest academic workload of the first semester. For families, the change means having fifteen additional days to claim a grant that, in practice, covers the full cost of academic services for the first year at a public university in the Community.
