La Gomera appoints three environmental agents following the competitive examination process

Por FactBox Admin

The Island Council of La Gomera has approved the proposal for the appointment of three candidates who passed the selection process to fill three positions as Environmental Agent. The decision is detailed in Resolution No. 2026-1035, dated August 27, 2026, issued by the Island Director of Coordination and Support to the President, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife number 105, dated September 2, 2026.

The three positions, classified under Special Administration, Group/Subgroup C/C1, were called for via open access through a competitive examination system, in execution of the public employment offers for the years 2022 (BOP No. 54, May 6, 2022), 2023 (BOP No. 97, August 11, 2023), and 2024 (BOP No. 90, July 26, 2024). The call was approved by the Island Governing Council in the session of August 9, 2024, and the appointment proposal was issued by the Qualifying Board on August 12, 2026, after the candidates successfully passed the tests.

The appointed candidates

The resolution approves the appointment proposal for the following career civil servants:

  • Samuel García Rivero (ID *6232)
  • Francisco Javier Santiago González (ID *7755)
  • Fernando Herrera González (ID *1771)

Documentation deadline and reserve list

The appointed candidates have twenty (20) calendar days, counting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the gazette, to present the required documentation. Likewise, the reserve list is approved, in descending order of score, consisting of participants who passed at least the first exercise of the examination phase, according to the board’s minutes of August 12, 2026. This list will be governed by the management rules for temporary public employment pools and reserve lists of the council, approved by presidential decree on April 17, 2026.

Appeals and publication

Against this resolution, which does not exhaust administrative remedies, an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed before the President of the Island Council of La Gomera within one month of its publication. The agreement is published in the provincial gazette and on the notice board of the council’s electronic headquarters.

Relevance for the island

With these appointments, the Island Council of La Gomera reinforces the environmental surveillance and protection of the island, incorporating three career civil servants who join the staff of agents dedicated to the conservation of the island territory. The filling of these positions, accumulated from public employment offers over three years, consolidates the environmental agent service and ensures a greater field presence in the management of the island’s natural spaces.
