The Generalitat allocates 3.42 million to 2026 international championships
Por FactBox Admin

The Generalitat Valenciana has granted nominative subsidies totaling 3,420,000 euros to entities organizing European and World championships in top categories and competitions of an equivalent level held in the Comunitat Valenciana during the 2026 fiscal year. The grant was formalized through the Resolution of October 15, 2026, of the Second Vice Presidency and Conselleria of the Presidency, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10481, dated October 28, 2026, with official reference DOGV-C-2026-33512.
The aid is structured as a direct grant under Article 22.2 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and Article 168 of Law 1/2015, of February 6, on Public Finance, the Instrumental Public Sector, and Subsidies. The amount comes from line S0804 of the 2026 regional budgets, budget application G0105.04.08.457A00, chapter IV, program 457A00 for the promotion of sporting activity.
The Generalitat justifies the nominative route on the grounds that each event can only be organized by the entity designated by the corresponding international, European, or national federation, which excludes competitive bidding. The line is included in the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2024-2026, approved by the Resolution of February 12, 2024 (DOGV 9813) and modified by the Resolution of July 7, 2025 (DOGV 10147) and the Resolution of September 21, 2026 (DOGV 10457). Competence is delegated to the Directorate General for Sport, whose head, Luis Cervera Torres, signed the resolution.

Deadlines, justification, and control
Eligible expenses must correspond to activities carried out between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and cover assembly, services, accommodation, catering, travel, and refereeing. General operating expenses, prizes, organization fees or rights, and event homologation are excluded.
The beneficiary entity is considered to have accepted if they do not waive the grant within ten business days following publication. Justification must be submitted within fifteen business days from the day following the event, with a deadline of November 27, 2026, and December 9, 2026, for December events. Subcontracting up to 50% of the expenditure is permitted, and parity in cash prizes is required.
The resolution does not require notification to the European Commission in accordance with Decree 128/2017 and takes effect from the day following its publication. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months.
The distribution consolidates the Comunitat Valenciana as a regular venue for international events and supports a sports calendar that, according to the resolution itself, involves already committed contracts, facility reservations, and sponsorships. For the organizers, the aid arrives with the 2026 calendar already underway and with the obligation to justify every euro before the end of the year.
