The Official Gazette of the Valencian Government (DOGV) publishes in its issue 10429, of 14 August 2026, four resolutions of the Department of Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Commerce granting declarations of tourist interest to three Valencian festivals and recognising Castielfabib as a tourist municipality of singularity. The titles, signed on 24 July 2026 by the regional minister Marian Cano García, represent a promotional boost for the beneficiary localities.
The distinctions are processed under Decree 119/2006, of 28 July, of the Consell, regulating declarations of festivals, itineraries, publications and audiovisual works of tourist interest in the Valencian Community, and under Decree 5/2020, of 10 January, of the Consell, regulating the statute of the tourist municipality. In all cases the Directorate General of Tourism issued a favourable proposal after examining the submitted documentation, and the resolutions order the ex officio registration of the grants in the Special Register of Festivals, Itineraries, Publications and Audiovisual Works of Tourist Interest.
Two Moors and Christians festivals, provincial interest
Almoradí and Albatera incorporate their Moors and Christians celebrations into the catalogue of festivals of provincial tourist interest, a distinction provided for in Article 3.1.b) of Decree 119/2006. The honorary title is granted following the application submitted by each town council to the Directorate General of Tourism:
- “Fair and Festivals of Moors and Christians of Almoradí”, requested by the Almoradí Town Council on 1 June 2026 (DOGV-C-2026-25301).
- “Moors and Christians Festivals in Honour of Saint James the Apostle”, of Albatera, requested on 29 May 2026 (DOGV-C-2026-25303).
The “Day of the Fools” of Jalance, local interest
At the municipal level, the “Day of the Fools” of Jalance obtains the declaration of Local Tourist Interest Festival, provided for in Article 3.1.a) of Decree 119/2006. The application was submitted by the Jalance Town Council on 8 June 2026, and the resolution is published with reference DOGV-C-2026-25304.
Castielfabib, tourist municipality of singularity
The Castielfabib Town Council receives, for its part, the recognition of the status of tourist municipality of singularity of the Valencian Community, granted in accordance with Article 19 of Decree 5/2020, of 10 January. The procedure began with the application submitted on 11 June 2026 and is resolved favourably by the resolution identified as DOGV-C-2026-25290.
Notification, publication and appeals
The four resolutions, which exhaust the administrative route, will be notified to the interested city councils in accordance with Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations, and published as provided in articles 7 of Decree 119/2006 and 19.3 of Decree 5/2020. They may be appealed by filing a motion for reconsideration with the same body within one month, or an administrative contentious appeal before the Administrative Litigation Division of the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community within two months.
With these declarations, the Generalitat reinforces the promotional projection of municipalities that base part of their appeal on unique celebrations and popular traditions. The status of tourist interest and the classification as a municipality of singularity constitute a visibility tool for the dissemination and marketing of Valencian tourist offerings, with particular reach for smaller towns.
