La Generalitat convoca ayudas GenT para estabilizar investigadores con talento

The Department of Education, Culture and Universities has announced, via resolution dated August 6, 2026, the 2026 grants for the Program to support the stabilization of talented researchers hired under the 2023 and previous calls of the “GenT” plan (ESGENT). The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) number 10446, dated September 8, 2026, with reference DOGV-C-2026-26929.

The objective is to retain scientific talent in the Valencian Community by financing the continuity of projects initiated under the 2023 and previous calls of the “GenT” plan. Only projects already underway, whose responsible researcher is the same person appearing in the initial award resolution, will be financed; files that have already received stabilization support in previous calls will not be subsidized.

Regulatory Framework and Budget

The regulatory bases were approved by Order 28/2024, of October 21, of the Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment (DOGV no. 9964, of October 24, 2024), amended by Order 10/2026, of June 9, of the Department of Education, Culture and Universities (DOGV no. 10386, of June 17, 2026). The latter introduces the possibility of financing the costs of hiring teaching hours, so that stabilized researchers have more time for research, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.

The grants are financed through line S0498000 of chapter 7 of the budgetary subprogram 542C00 “Research, Technological Development and Innovation (R&D+i)”, for a maximum global amount of 5,330,659.67 euros, distributed over five annual installments:

  • 2026: 1,531,753.17 euros
  • 2027: 1,461,406.50 euros
  • 2028: 1,262,500.00 euros
  • 2029: 610,000.00 euros
  • 2030: 465,000.00 euros

The amounts for the 2027 to 2030 installments are subject to the existence of adequate and sufficient credit in the budgets of the corresponding fiscal years.

Beneficiaries and Amount

Beneficiaries may include the research centers and Valencian public universities provided for in Article 4 of the regulatory bases. Entities must certify that the doctoral research personnel hired through a “GenT” plan grant have acquired a permanent civil service or employment relationship, and the researchers must have been stabilized in 2026 or in previous years.

The amount will correspond to the additional funding granted under the 2018 to 2023 CIDEGENT and CDEIGENT calls, or the proportional part for incomplete annual periods, granting up to the maximum amount requested. This will be supplemented by funding to cover the costs of hiring substitute teaching staff for up to a maximum of 120 hours of the annual teaching load, for a maximum amount of 12,000 euros per year.

Submission and evaluation

Applications shall be submitted exclusively electronically via the Generalitat’s electronic office (https://sede.gva.es), with an authorized digital signature, and must bear the signature of the person holding the legal representation of the entity and the stabilized researcher. The submission period will be from October 1 to 16, 2026.

The grant will be awarded through a competitive process, evaluating:

  • Work plan: up to 20 points (15 for quality and 5 for international projection)
  • Publications: up to 50 points (10 for first-quartile journals, 7.5 for second, 5 for third, and 2.5 for conferences with proceedings)
  • Contracts, patents, awards, and events: up to 30 points

In order for an application to be proposed for funding, it must achieve a score equal to or greater than 50 points. The maximum period for resolution will be six months from the publication of the call.

Relevance

This call consolidates the Generalitat’s commitment to the retention of research talent, allowing researchers hired in previous editions of the “GenT” plan to consolidate their careers in Valencian universities and research centers. The novelty introduced by Order 10/2026, which finances teaching hours to free up research time, reinforces the competitiveness of the Valencian scientific system against brain drain.
