The Generalitat announces 69 GenT2 grants to retain research talent

The Department of Education, Culture and Universities has announced the grants for the 2027 financial year for the Program to support the hiring and stabilization of talented researchers and innovators, “Talent and Transfer Generation” Plan – “GenT2” Plan, with a budget of 24,326,583.33 euros. The call is formalized through the Resolution of September 23, 2026, of the Directorate General for Science and Research, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10459, of September 25, 2026 (reference DOGV-C-2026-30202), with an extract in reference DOGV-C-2026-30241. A total of 69 grants are offered under a competitive bidding process.

The grants are governed by Order 7/2025, of April 22, of the Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment, modified by Order 10/2026, of June 9 (DOGV no. 10386, of June 17, 2026). They are processed in advance under Article 167 of Law 1/2015, of February 6, on public finance, the instrumental public sector and grants, and the tenth additional provision of Law 4/2026, of July 22, on the Generalitat budgets for 2026.

Funding is provided by line S0498 of chapter 7 of the budgetary subprogram 542C00 “Research, Technological Development and Innovation (R&D+i)”, with the following breakdown by year:

• 2027: 2,128,333.33 euros
• 2028: 6,229,833.33 euros
• 2029: 6,216,500.00 euros
• 2030: 5,876,500.00 euros
• 2031: 3,875,416.67 euros

The Consell had already authorized on September 18, 2026, the extension of the multi-annual expenditure limits for that line (DOGV no. 10456, of September 22, 2026, reference DOGV-C-2026-29451), raising the 2028 limit from 12.5 to 19 million euros to be able to accommodate the advance call.

Five modalities and 69 positions

The resolution distributes the grants among five annexes, with differentiated economic conditions:

• DEGENT (Annex I): 20 grants for the hiring and stabilization of doctoral research personnel of excellence; annual eligible cost of 70,000 euros per contract, minimum remuneration of 53,000 euros gross per year, and additional funding of up to 100,000 euros per year.
• EIGENT (Annex II): 9 grants for doctors with international experience; 55,000 euros annual cost, minimum remuneration of 42,000 euros gross, and additional funding of up to 30,000 euros.
• JIGENT (Annex III): 20 grants for scientific excellence for junior researchers, with a maximum annual amount of 80,000 euros.
• INGENT (Annex IV): 10 grants for industrial doctoral theses; 43,000 euros for the first year and 41,000 for subsequent years, with a predoctoral contract of 38,600 euros per year and a minimum remuneration of 29,692 euros gross.
• EMGENT (Annex V): 10 grants for the incorporation of doctors into knowledge transfer projects; 61,000 euros per year and a minimum remuneration of 45,750 euros gross.

The Generalitat finances 70% of the cost of the contracts in DEGENT and EIGENT, while the beneficiary entities assume the remainder for each annual period. The grants are incompatible with other aid for the same purpose and the same expenditure items.

Deadlines: twenty business days or from November 2 to 27

• DEGENT, EIGENT, and JIGENT: twenty business days from the day following the publication in the DOGV.
• INGENT and EMGENT: from November 2 to 27, 2026.
• Stabilization: fifteen days from stabilization to request the continuity of the additional funding.

Applications are submitted exclusively through the Generalitat’s electronic office (https://sede.gva.es) and must be signed by the legal representative of the entity and the principal researcher. Only one application with the same principal researcher per call is permitted, and documents are accepted in Valencian, Spanish, and English, preferably in English.

Resolution, control, and appeals

The maximum period for resolution is six months from the publication of the call; if this period passes without a resolution, the application is considered rejected. The resolution is published on the Generalitat’s website, serving as notification, and is sent to the National Grants Database (BDNS 931323). The control plan of the Scientific Policy Service will cover at least 20% of the initial credit of the line. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the resolution within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community within two months.

The early call for applications continues the Generalitat’s effort to retain and attract research talent in the universities and R&D centers of the Valencian Community, and arrives with a staggered calendar that requires requesting entities to prepare the scientific and budgetary documentation before the end of the year.
