The Generalitat approves more than ten million in subsidies for music and dance conservatories

New bases and call for applications published in the DOGV

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities of the Valencian Government has approved, by means of a Resolution of 10 August 2026, the regulatory bases and the call for subsidies intended for municipal conservatories, authorised centres and integrated centres of general and artistic education —elementary and/or professional— in Music and Dance. The text was published on 18 August 2026 in the Official Journal of the Valencian Government (DOGV), number 10,431, Section III.B (Subsidies and Grants), with the official reference DOGV-C-2026-27066.

The resolution was signed by María del Carmen Ortí Ferre, Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, and enters into force on the day following its publication. This is a joint approval of bases and call for applications, which allows its full legal effectiveness from the moment of its dissemination in the official bulletin, without the need for additional procedures.

Budget allocation and purpose of the aid

The call is endowed with a maximum overall amount of €10,461,557.52, financed from the credits of chapter IV of subprogramme 422B00, budget line S0275, of the Generalitat’s budgets for the 2026 financial year. The entirety of this allocation will be distributed among four categories of education:

• Elementary Music education
• Professional Music education
• Elementary Dance education
• Professional Dance education

The objective of these subsidies is to contribute to the maintenance of school activity through the co-financing of expenses directly linked to the provision of teaching and operational activities necessary for the proper development of the 2025-2026 academic year. The subsidisable period runs from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026. The aid is integrated into the Ministry’s strategic subsidy plan for the 2024-2027 period.

Calculation of the subsidy and limits

The amount of the aid is determined by means of a pro-rata system based on the expenses declared by each centre, with the following calculation parameters:

• Teaching staff expenses: €2,000 for each enrolled student
• Operating expenses: €250 for each enrolled student

In both cases, when the resulting expenses differ from the declared amounts, the lower amount shall be taken. Entities may receive a maximum of 75% of the total subsidisable expenses or the resulting financing deficit between computable expenses and income, whichever is lower. The call is processed under a competitive tendering regime by means of pro-rata distribution.

Beneficiaries, requirements and application deadline

The entities that may apply for these subsidies are:

• Local entities (town councils) that own municipal conservatories
• Non-profit private entities that own authorized or integrated centers

Local entities may subcontract up to 100% of the execution of school activity through a concession in favor of a non-profit entity. Private entities may not subcontract the execution. Centers must be registered in the register of educational centers of the Valencian Community and meet requirements such as being up to date with tax and Social Security obligations, having teaching staff with appropriate qualifications, and holding a negative certificate from the Central Registry of Sexual Offenders for staff in regular contact with minors.

The application submission period runs from the day following the publication of the resolution until September 11, 2026, inclusive. Processing is exclusively electronic, and justification will be carried out simultaneously with the application.

Assessment criteria and assessment committee

After a first apportionment phase that will cover up to 20% of the computed expenses of each center, the remaining credit will be distributed by applying the scoring criteria, which are organized into several blocks:

• Learning (up to 4 points): number of professional specialties taught, percentage of students in professional studies, and proportion of students in the fifth and sixth years.
• Student body (up to 3 points): awards in the regional phase of the professional awards in the last five editions, proportion of students in specialties with an orchestra subject, and dropout rate.
• Training offer (up to 2 points): geographic and population need, with special attention to regions such as El Comtat, l’Alcoià, el Alt Vinalopó, el Baix Segura, el Alt Palància, la Vall de Cofrents-Ayora, la Canal de Navarrés, La Costera and el Camp de Morvedre (music), and el Rincón de Ademuz, els Serrans and el Camp de Túria (dance).
• Website (1 point): for including institutional information, educational project, and annual programming.

Scores in municipal conservatories of professional studies will be multiplied by two, unless they are managed through a private concessionaire. An assessment committee will evaluate the applications and submit the draft resolution, which must be decided within a maximum period of three months from the publication of the call for applications.
