The Gazette publishes patent, utility model, and industrial design applications

La Gaceta — Official Gazette of Costa Rica publishes in its edition No. 170 of September 9, 2026, three industrial property applications processed before the National Registry. These consist of an invention patent from Nordson Corporation, a utility model from Gabriel Arturo Suárez Díaz, and an industrial design from Chery Automobile CO., LTD., all with opposition periods open to interested third parties.

The three notices appear on page 67 of the bulletin, within the notices section of the Industrial Property Registry. Each application is published consecutively in the Official Gazette and once in a national circulation newspaper, in accordance with Costa Rican industrial property regulations, so that interested parties may exercise their rights within the established timeframes.

Heat-shrink tube patent

Nordson Corporation, represented by proxy Marianela del Milagro Arias Chacón, applies for the PCT patent titled “Detachable polyester heat-shrink tube.” The invention, whose inventor is Chen, Jiunn-Yow (US), refers to a tube formed from a base polymer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and at least a second extruded or co-extruded polyester, with longitudinal detachment.

Opposition periods

In all three cases, any interested party may oppose within three months following the third publication of the notice. The edicts were signed by registrars María Leonor Hernández Bustamante, Hellen Marín Cabrera, and Randall Piedra Fallas, on dates in August and July 2026.

The publication of these applications allows third parties to defend potential rights over inventions and designs, a key mechanism for the transparency of the Costa Rican industrial property system.
