The Civil Service consolidates ten Fisheries Inspection officers.

The General Directorate of the Civil Service of the Government of the Canary Islands has appointed ten selected candidates in the open-access selection tests for the Corps of Fisheries Inspection Agents (Group C, Subgroup C1) as career civil servants. The appointment, which includes the final assignment of the post, has been published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) No. 162, of 13 August 2026, by means of Resolution of 31 July 2026.

The new civil servants come from the selection process approved by Resolution of 29 November 2023 (BOC No. 243, of 13 December 2023), whose list of selected persons was made public by Resolution of 19 March 2026 (BOC No. 59, of 26 March 2026). This action is based on Law 2/2025, of 26 June, on urgent measures to reduce temporary employment, efficient management and quality in the public employment of the Canary Islands Administration, which sets a maximum period of three months for appointing those selected.

The process also culminates in the consolidation of five vacant posts that had been held by interim civil servants —identified by numbers 19298, 19290, 19297, 19309 and 10536610—, in accordance with the post identification criteria of Resolution No. 3965/2024, of 29 November. The remaining posts are open vacancies offered due to the human resources needs of the General Administration of the Autonomous Community.

Ten names for the fisheries control staff

Annex I of the resolution lists the appointed persons, ordered by the score obtained in the selection process:

• Melanie Ingrid Foster Ruggiero — Las Palmas, 8.617 points.
• Macarena Troya Rodríguez — Las Palmas, 8.069 points.
• Adonay Cano González — Las Palmas, 7.973 points.
• Carlos Gustavo Melo Gil — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 7.109 points.
• Rocío Arenas Ruiz — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6.535 points.
• Belén Acha Araico — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6.243 points.
• Ana Vanesa Brito Prieto — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6.216 points.
• Cristina Melián Rodríguez — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 6.134 points.
• Jesús Yeray Delgado Dorta — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 5.994 points.
• Eduardo García Román — Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 5.425 points.

Posts in the Fisheries Inspection Service

All those appointed join the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, assigned to the General Directorate of Fisheries, within the Fisheries Inspection Service, in fishery inspection agent posts with a post allowance of 20 and a specific allowance of 30. The distribution by island is as follows:

• Gran Canaria (4): Adonay Cano González, Jesús Yeray Delgado Dorta, Melanie Ingrid Foster Ruggiero and Macarena Troya Rodríguez.
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife (3): Belén Acha Araico, Ana Vanesa Brito Prieto and Carlos Gustavo Melo Gil.
• Lanzarote (2): Rocío Arenas Ruiz and Eduardo García Román.
• La Gomera (1): Cristina Melián Rodríguez.

Deadlines for taking office and cessation

In accordance with article 114.12 of Royal Decree-Law 6/2023 of 19 December, taking office must occur within fifteen calendar days from publication in the BOC, extendable to one month when it entails a change of locality of residence; those who do not take office within the deadline shall forfeit their right. The appointed persons must communicate the date of their incorporation at least one day in advance.

The resolution likewise declares the cessation of the interim officials who occupied posts no. 19298, 19290, 19297, 19309 and 10536610, with legal and economic effects on the day before the new holders effectively take office. In the phase of verifying requirements, Ana Raquel Navarro Quintana was excluded by means of Resolution No. 2670/2026 of 29 July, for not proving the qualification enabling the handling of recreational craft of up to fifteen metres in length required by the bases.

Against the resolution, which ends the administrative route, an administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Administrative Litigation Chamber of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, or an optional motion for reconsideration within one month. With these appointments, signed by the Director General of the Civil Service, Francisco Javier Rodríguez del Castillo, the Canary Islands provides stability to its fisheries surveillance and control network, extending from La Gomera to Lanzarote, and takes a further step in reducing temporary employment in the regional public sector.
