The General Directorate of Tourism, Commerce, and Handicrafts of Castilla-La Mancha has granted the title of Festival of Regional Tourist Interest to the Sixties Festival of Tarancón (Cuenca), which is celebrated every year in said town. The recognition is formalized through the Resolution of 08/25/2026, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) on September 14, 2026, in section III of other provisions and acts, with official reference [2026/6516].

The declaration is supported by the favorable report issued by the Provincial Delegate of the Ministry of Economy, Business, and Employment in Cuenca, dated March 30, 2026, and is issued in accordance with Decree 32/2006, of March 21, which regulates the declaration of Festivals of Regional Tourist Interest of Castilla-La Mancha. The resolution is adopted using the powers established in Decree 64/2025, of September 9, which establishes the organic structure and competencies of the bodies integrated into the Ministry of Economy, Business, and Employment.

A recognition that boosts local tourism

The Sixties Festival of Tarancón is an annual celebration that evokes the aesthetics, music, and atmosphere of the sixties, and has become a prominent date on the festive calendar of the province of Cuenca. With this declaration, the festival is incorporated into the catalog of celebrations of regional tourist interest of Castilla-La Mancha, a distinction that recognizes its uniqueness and its capacity to attract visitors.

The title represents institutional support for an event that stimulates the economic and hospitality activity of the municipality. The distinction grants the festival greater promotional projection and reinforces its positioning as a tourist resource of the Cuenca territory.

The declaration is processed according to the regime established in Decree 32/2006, of March 21, which regulates the declaration of Festivals of Regional Tourist Interest of Castilla-La Mancha. The procedure has included the case file documentation and the favorable report from the Provincial Delegation in Cuenca.

Appeals and effects

This resolution does not exhaust administrative remedies. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against it before the head of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Business and Employment, in accordance with articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, within a period of one month starting from the day following the notification.

The distinction consolidates the Tarancón 60s Party as a festive benchmark for the region and opens new opportunities for promotion and development for the municipality and its surroundings, in a context where experiential and local tourism is gaining weight in the economy of Castilla-La Mancha.
