The Provincial Council allocates 470,240 euros in sports grants to municipalities

The Provincial Council of Segovia has provisionally resolved the call for grants for the Sports Schools and Social Sport programs for the 2026-2027 season, with a global amount of 470,240 euros to be distributed among dozens of town councils in the province. The resolution, adopted by Presidency Decree No. 2026-6347 of August 28, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Segovia number 105, dated September 2, 2026, and is registered in the National Grants Database with the identifier BDNS 909843.

Two lines of aid, no denials

The rules of the call, approved by the Governing Board in the session of May 26, 2026, and published in the BOP Segovia No. 70 of June 12, 2026, are aimed at town councils of municipalities with a population of fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and their dependent local entities. The application period took place between June 15 and August 20, 2026, and all applications received have been provisionally granted:

• Sports Schools 2026-2027: 77 applications, 77 granted and 0 denied, for an amount of €251,280.00 (349 modules).
• Social Sport 2026-2027: 161 applications, 161 granted and 0 denied, for an amount of €218,960.00 (368 modules).

The expenditure is charged to item 04-341-462.00 of the current General Budget, and the activity is supported by article 36.d) of the Law regulating the Bases of the Local Regime.

The most benefited municipalities

In the Sports Schools campaign, the highest amounts correspond to El Espinar (€27,360, 38 modules), Carbonero el Mayor (€13,680), Palazuelos de Eresma (€12,960), Cantalejo (€11,520), and Cuéllar (€10,800). In Social Sport, San Cristóbal de Segovia (€8,330), Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (€7,735), Cuéllar (€7,140), Carbonero el Mayor (€6,545), and La Lastrilla (€6,545) stand out.

The resolution also includes numerous minor local entities (E.L.M.) such as Arroyo de Cuéllar, Chatún, Campo de Cuéllar, Montuenga, Moraleja de Coca, Tabladillo, Villoslada, and Vivar de Fuentidueña, among others.

Deadline to expand or change modules

Beneficiaries have until November 10 to request the expansion or change of modules, under the conditions established in article 8 “Subsequent new assignments” of the call. The final number of assigned modules will be set in the definitive resolution, which will be issued once these requests have been evaluated.

Against the resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month before the same body, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Segovia within two months. The announcement is published for the purpose of notifying interested parties, and the resolution is signed by the Deputy Secretary, Laura Álvarez García.

A key boost for rural sports

The call for applications consolidates the Provincial Council’s support for sports in rural areas, where smaller municipalities depend on these grants to sustain their sports schools and social sports programs. With 238 applications processed and none denied, the provisional resolution guarantees coverage for virtually all the municipalities in the province that applied, a support that will be definitively materialized following the module extension process.
