The Provincial Council distributes grants to 58 entities for 2026 sports circuits

The Provincial Council of Cuenca has published the provisional resolution for the call for grants for local entities organizing events for the 2026 sports circuits, distributing aid to 58 entities for popular races, mountain races, MTB, duathlon/triathlon, and other modalities. The announcement, signed by the deputy for Sports, Youth, and Informatics, Abel Fresneda López, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca number 104, dated September 9, 2026, under reference NÚM. 2124.

The proposal, prepared by the instructing body after completing the instruction procedure and in view of the report from the Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, details in an annexed list the beneficiaries, their CIF (Tax ID), the circuit they are applying for, and the score obtained according to point 12 of the regulations. Along with those admitted, the resolution lists 6 excluded entities due to non-compliance with point 2 of the regulations.

Beneficiaries and circuits

The grants are distributed among town halls throughout the province, with scores ranging between 8 and 58 points depending on the modality. Among the highest-scoring circuits, mountain races and MTB stand out, with maximums of 58 and 56 points respectively.

• Popular races: Alconchel de la Estrella, Belmonte, Cardenete, El Herrumblar, Honrubia, Horcajo de Santiago, Minglanilla, Olmedilla de Alarcón, Sisante, Uña, and Villamayor de Santiago.
• Mountain races: Almodóvar del Pinar, Beamud, Carboneras de Guadazaón, Huélamo, Priego, and Salvacañete.
• MTB: Graja de Iniesta, Ledaña, Mariana, Minglanilla, Santa Cruz de Moya, Villalba del Rey, and Villamayor de Santiago.
• Duathlon/triathlon: Almodóvar del Pinar, Villaescusa de Haro, and Villarejo Periesteban.
• Popular games (JJ.PP.): Horcajo de Santiago, Huete, Motilla del Palancar, Las Pedroñeras, and Uña.
• Other modalities (boleo, bowling, frontenis, and padel): Arcas, Barajas de Melo, Barchín del Hoyo, Cañada del Hoyo, Cañaveruelas, Casas de Haro, La Cierva, Huete, Mira, Mota del Cuervo, Portilla, El Provencio, Quintanar del Rey, Tragacete, and Valdemoro de la Sierra.

Excluded entities

The provisional resolution excludes 6 entities for non-compliance with point 2 of the regulations, with no circuit assigned to them in most cases:

• Cañada del Hoyo (no circuit).
• Casas de Haro (no circuit).
• Huélamo (bowling circuit).
• Piqueras del Castillo (boleo circuit).
• Tejadillos (mountain race circuit).
• Valverdejo (no circuit).

Period for appeals

A period of ten business days is opened to submit allegations to the proposed resolution, counted from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca. Once this period has ended, the instructing body will formulate the final resolution proposal, which will determine the final distribution of the grants.

The call consolidates the Provincial Council’s support for grassroots sports in rural areas by financing circuits that structure sporting activity in dozens of municipalities in the province. The city councils affected by the exclusion now have the allegations window to remedy non-compliance and opt for funding in the final resolution.
