The Provincial Council distributes 25,000 euros among 13 entities to recover the botargas.

The Provincial Council of Guadalajara has published this Friday, August 14, 2026, in the Official Bulletin of the Province (No. 155) the final resolution of the call for subsidies for the recovery of the botargas of 2026. The Decree No. 2026-8781, of August 7, awards 14,968.90 euros to seven town councils and six associations in the province, within a maximum budget of 25,000 euros. The resolution, signed by the president of the Provincial Council, José Luis Vega Pérez, puts an end to the administrative process.

The call was approved by the Governing Board in its session of April 14, 2026, and its summary was published in BOP No. 71 of April 16. It is addressed to town councils and associations of the province to cover the costs of recovery, maintenance and promotion of the botargas, under a competitive bidding regime. The credit is divided into two lines: 12,500 euros for town councils (budget item 430.46204) and 12,500 euros for associations (budget item 430.48907), with a limit of 80% of eligible expenses per beneficiary.

16 applications were submitted —10 from town councils and 6 from associations— and, after the correction of defects, the provisional resolution was approved on July 14, 2026 and published in BOP No. 138 of July 22. No objections were received within the ten-business-day period.

Seven town councils, 10,620.66 euros

The municipal line awards 10,620.66 euros to seven town councils:

• Town Council of Malaguilla: €4,153.94 (botarga costume).
• Town Council of Arbancón: €2,696.00 (promotional material).
• Town Council of Robledillo de Mohernando: €1,612.59 (advertising and costume).
• Town Council of Romanones: €1,160.00 (promotional material).
• Town Council of Mohernando: €474.32 (promotional material).
• Town Council of Majaelrayo: €320.00 (promotional material).
• Town Council of Fuencemillán: €209.81 (botarga costume).

Six associations, 4,348.24 euros

The association line distributes 4,348.24 euros among six cultural and neighborhood entities:

• Cultural Association Friends of Villaseca de Uceda: €2,392.00 (promotional material).
• Cultural Association La Botarga de San Sebastián, of Valdepeñas de la Sierra: €1,113.20.
• Sociocultural Association Friends of Beleña de Sorbe: €435.28.
• Neighbors’ Association of Ribarredonda: €320.00.
• Cultural Association Friends of Luzón: €56.00.
• Association of Botargas and Dancers of Valdenuño: €31.76.

Three rejected applications

The resolution definitively rejects three requests:

• Town Council of Luzaga, for failing to respond to the request for correction.
• Town Council of La Huerce and Town Council of Gajanejos, for being submitted after the deadline.

Against the resolution, an administrative contentious appeal may be lodged within two months before the Administrative Litigation Division of the Court of Instance of Guadalajara, in accordance with Law 29/1998, of 13 July, or, optionally, an appeal for reconsideration within one month before the same body, under articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October.

The final resolution consolidates a stable line of support for the ethnographic heritage of the province: the foreseen €25,000 allow the towns to finance costumes, advertising and promotional material for the botargas, traditional festive manifestations that act as a hallmark of local identity and a tourist attraction for the rural environment of Guadalajara.
