The Provincial Council rectifies the justification deadlines for the 2026 CEAS grants

The Provincial Council of Burgos has approved the rectification of the justification dates for the 1st and 2nd lists of grants awarded to the province’s town halls for the development of programs and activities of the Social Action Centers (CEAS) for the 2026 fiscal year. The correction, adopted by the Governing Board in its ordinary session on July 24, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos number 158, dated August 21, 2026, in section III of Local Administration.

The agreement corrects an error noted in the justification dates of some programs and affects dozens of rural municipalities, which must submit their justifications before August 31, 2026, in most cases.

An error detected in the grant lists

The grants are governed by the rules for direct awarding approved by the Governing Board on February 27, 2026. The 1st list was approved on March 27, 2026, and the 2nd on June 26, 2026, following the report of the Social Action Commission meeting on July 15, 2026.

Having noted the error in the justification dates of some programs, the Corporation proceeds to rectify them through two agreements:

• File 2026/00014790Q (reference BoPBur-2026-03527): rectification of the 1st list of grants.
• File 2026/00029321B (reference BoPBur-2026-03528): rectification of the 2nd list of grants.

New justification deadlines

The correction establishes two main justification dates depending on the completion of each project:

• August 31, 2026, for programs ending on September 30, 2026, or November 30, 2026.
• February 26, 2027, for projects concluding on February 28, 2027.
• Exceptionally, the women’s empowerment workshop of the Valle de Mena sets its justification for November 30, 2026.

Affected municipalities and programs

The rectification reaches numerous town halls in the rural areas of the province, including Melgar de Fernamental, Briviesca, Espinosa de los Monteros, Lerma, Miranda Rural, Oña, Quintanar de la Sierra, Salas de los Infantes, Santa María del Campo, Trespaderne, Valle de Mena, Valle de Valdebezana, Villarcayo, and Villadiego, among others.

The affected programs include:

• Active aging (memory workshops, cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and healthy living).
• Social inclusion (school reinforcement, insertion itineraries, and vocational training).
• Family education and support for the coexistence unit.
• Equality (March 8th events, empowerment workshops, and reading clubs with a gender perspective).
• Community social action and drug prevention.

Relevance for the municipalities

Accuracy is key for the small municipalities of the province, which depend on these grants to finance their social programs and must adjust their justifications to the new deadlines to avoid losing the subsidy. The agreement, signed by the secretary general José Luis M.ª González de Miguel on August 11, 2026, concludes the administrative process and is also published in the National Grants Database, in accordance with Article 20 of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17.
