The Provincial Council proposes 86,000 euros to promote the Route of the Castles

The Provincial Council of Jaén has proposed granting 86,000 euros to 25 city councils in the province for the Animation Program of the Route of Castles and Battles for the 2026 fiscal year. The provisional resolution proposal was issued on September 11, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén No. 184, of September 22, 2026, in the Local Administration section (reference 2026/4407). The text was signed in Jaén, on September 18, 2026, by the Deputy for Economy, Finance, and Municipal Assistance, Pilar Parra Ruiz, by delegation of the President (Resol. No. 272 of 06/09/2026).

The call for applications was approved by resolution of the President, by delegation of the Deputy for Promotion and Tourism (Resol. 433 of 07-04-2023), number 116, of March 18, 2026, and its summary was published in the Official Gazette of the Province No. 57, of March 24, 2026. Once the application period ended, interested parties were required to correct their documentation within a non-extendable period of ten days (BOP No. 105, of June 2, 2026).

The Instructing Body issued a report on July 2, 2026, with 25 applications admitted to the evaluation phase and one rejected, in accordance with Article 23.5 of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003. The Collegiate Body, meeting on September 8, 2026, submitted the evaluation with the amounts assigned within the total amount provided for in the call.

The 25 subsidized projects

The grants are distributed among the following municipalities, with the score obtained and the proposed amount:

• Alcalá la Real: VI Sunsets on the Frontier of Al-Andalus, 56 points, 4,480.00 euros.
• Alcaudete: XXI Calatrava Festivals 2026, 74 points, 5,920.00 euros.
• Andújar: Andújar Medieval Market 1466, 51 points, 4,000.00 euros.
• Arjona: XXI Edition of Las Veladas Nazaríes, 43 points, 3,440.00 euros.
• Arjonilla: XXII Medieval Days of the Troubadour Macías, 43 points, 3,440.00 euros.
• Bailén: Independence Market 2026, 41 points, 3,280.00 euros.
• Baños de la Encina: Andalusian Night of the Rose, 64 points, 5,120.00 euros.
• Canena: VI Canena and its Castle Days, 38 points, 3,040.00 euros.
• Cazorla: Adelantamiento Festivals 2026, 42 points, 3,360.00 euros.
• Hornos: III Historical Reenactment of the Battle of Hornos 1446, 36 points, 2,880.00 euros.
• Jaén: The fortress does not sleep in summer, 52 points, 4,160.00 euros.
• Jódar: III Reenactment of the Battle of Jódar, 35 points, 2,800.00 euros.
• La Carolina: Commemoration of the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, 41 points, 3,280.00 euros.
• La Guardia de Jaén: Autumn Multicultural Festival 2026, 37 points, 2,960.00 euros.
• La Iruela: VI Resistance Days 1810-1812, 35 points, 2,800.00 euros.
• Linares: Market of the XIII Ibero-Roman Festivals of Cástulo, 35 points, 2,800.00 euros.
• Lopera: Medieval Festivals of Calatravo Castle of Lopera 2026, 39 points, 3,120.00 euros.
• Martos: III Old Town Festival, 44 points, 3,520.00 euros.
• Porcuna: Tourism Animation Program Castles and Battles Route 2026, 40 points, 3,200.00 euros.
• Santa Elena: Commemoration of the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa Route, 35 points, 2,800.00 euros.
• Segura de la Sierra: Castles and Battles Animation 2026, 39 points, 3,120.00 euros.
• Torredelcampo: 222nd Anniversary commemorative events, 35 points, 2,800.00 euros.
• Torredonjimeno: XXIII Visigoth Market and Festival of Torre Don Ximeno 2026, 42 points, 3,360.00 euros.
• Vilches: The White Nights of the Guardian of the Trophies, 40 points, 3,200.00 euros.
• Villadompardo: IV Historical Representation in the Castle surroundings, 39 points, 3,120.00 euros.

One excluded request

The proposal dismisses a single request, that of the Sabiote City Council (file 1801), corresponding to the project “Virtual Visit to the Castle of Sabiote – creation of a Digital Twin”. The cause of exclusion applied is key F, that is, action excluded according to article 5 of the call.

Allegations, reformulation and payment

City councils have ten business days, counting from the day following publication, to submit allegations if they disagree with the proposed amount (art. 24.4 of Law 38/2003) or to reformulate the application by adjusting commitments and conditions (art. 27). If no allegation or reformulation is submitted, the provisional proposal will become final.

The grant will be paid in a single advance payment, prior to justification, without the obligation to provide a guarantee (art. 42.2 a) of Royal Decree 887/2006). Justification will be carried out through a simplified justification account, according to articles 24 and 25 of the call. The proposal does not create any right until the notification of the granting resolution (art. 24.6).

The distribution mobilizes 86,000 euros from the Promotion and Tourism Area toward small and medium-sized municipalities that sustain the historical and tourist programming of the province. For the beneficiary city councils, the ten-business-day period now opens the final window to adjust their projects before the final resolution.
