The Provincial Council excludes six entities from the 2026 tourism grants

The Provincial Council of Badajoz, through its Functional Area of Rural Development, Demographic Challenge, and Tourism, has resolved the call for grants aimed at promoting tourism for the year 2026, excluding six applicant entities for failing to meet the requirements of the call. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 159, dated August 20, 2026, via Announcement 3289/2026, signed by the delegated deputy Ana Belén Valls Muñoz.

The resolution is issued in accordance with base 9, point 3, of the regulatory call for tourism promotion grants for 2025 (published in BOP number 238, dated December 15, 2025), and article 24.4 of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17, following the report from the Valuation Commission and the proposal from the acting director of the area. The call includes two lines: Line 1, for tourism promotion actions, and Line 2, for tourism in aquatic environments.

Excluded entities and reasons

The agreement excludes six applicants, most for submitting projects not covered under base 6.1) of the call, and one for submitting after the deadline:

• City Council of Aljucén (CIF P0600900E): non-eligible project, consisting of a wooden sculpture of Saint James the Apostle.
• City Council of Don Álvaro (CIF P0604300D): non-eligible project, adaptation, signage, and certification of the “Los Molinos” hiking route.
• City Council of Navalvillar de Pela (CIF P0609100C): application submitted after the deadline.
• Minor Local Entity of Guadajira (CIF P5607201J): non-eligible project, signage and lighting of a route.
• Celiac Association of Extremadura (CIF G06201875): non-eligible project.
• Association of Tourism Entrepreneurs of Alange (CIF G56208135): non-eligible project, consisting of a permanent billboard.

Beneficiaries and granted amounts

In Line 1, grants are awarded to 25 associations, 146 city councils, and 13 minor local entities, for a total amount of 484,799.28 euros. Notable associations include Euexia Rural (€2,500), the Choral Association of Arroyo de San Serván (€2,500), and Amigos de la Rabaza (€2,500); among city councils, Garbayuela (€3,499.62), La Codosera (€3,387.93), and Peñalsordo (€3,276.24).

In Line 2, for tourism in aquatic environments, 70,000 euros are granted to nine city councils and one minor local entity, with grants of €7,000 per beneficiary, such as Alange (V Water Festival), Castuera, and Orellana la Vieja.

Applications denied due to scoring

Additionally, the resolution denies the grant to nine applications for failing to reach the minimum score of 60 points required in base 8 of the call. Among them are the Badajoz City Council (40 points, guided ornithological tourism visit program), Olivenza (50 points), Montijo (53 points), and La Garrovilla (54 points), as well as the associations Amigos de los Clásicos Vegas Altas y la Serena (41 points) and Mujeres de Lobón (45 points).

The resolution orders its publication in the Official Provincial Gazette and its communication to the Plenary of the Corporation in the next ordinary session, in accordance with article 62 of Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28. The exclusion of the city councils of Aljucén, Don Álvaro, and Navalvillar de Pela leaves local tourism initiatives without provincial funding, while the bulk of the call distributes more than half a million euros among dozens of municipalities and entities in the province, in a key boost for rural and inland tourism in Badajoz.
