The Provincial Council of Zamora has announced grants for the new installation and replacement of fire hydrants intended for the prevention and extinction of fires in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants in the province. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Zamora number 115, dated October 2, 2026, within section III. Local Administration, with the official reference R-202602285. The regulatory bases were approved by Presidency Resolution number 2026-6205, dated September 23, 2026, and the summary is disseminated in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies. The full text is available in the National Subsidies Database, with the identifier BDNS 932188, and on the notice board of the provincial institution. The announcement is signed by the president of the corporation, Javier Faúndez Domínguez, in Zamora on September 25, 2026, and the call corresponds to the Environmental Service of the Council.
Who can apply and under what requirements
- Beneficiaries may be city councils with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and smaller local entities in the province of Zamora.
- Municipal associations (mancomunidades) are expressly excluded: they may not apply for funding under this call.
- It is essential to have a tax ordinance in force for the collection of the domestic water tax, a requirement that is proven by a certificate from the Secretary-Interventor stating both the existence of the tax and the actual collection thereof.
- This certificate should only be presented when the collection is not delegated to the collection service of the Provincial Council itself.
- Only one application per city council is permitted, which may include actions for the main municipality and its annexes.
Eligible actions and amounts
The purpose of the call is the installation of new fire hydrants and the replacement or adaptation of existing ones. The subsidized hydrants must be connected to a supply network or hydraulic infrastructure that guarantees effective water availability for use by fire extinguishing services, and the works must improve the coverage of supply points within urban centers and annexes.
- Up to 400 euros, VAT included, for each new fire hydrant, including its installation and the necessary plumbing materials.
- Up to 200 euros, VAT included, for each replaced fire hydrant, including its installation and the necessary plumbing materials.
- A maximum of 20,000 euros per city council, also considering all its annexes.
Funding is charged to the Corporation’s Budgets for the 2026 financial year, through budget item 35.1360.76200. The grant will be awarded on a competitive basis, based on the expenditure actually incurred and justified, in the order resulting from the application of the scoring criteria until the enabled amount is exhausted.
Deadline and submission of applications
The deadline for submitting applications will be twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of the Province of Zamora, therefore opening on October 3, 2026. The application and other documents are available to interested parties on the electronic office of the Provincial Council of Zamora, through the electronic procedure enabled for this purpose.
The call reaches all city councils and smaller local entities in the province, a wide universe of small municipalities with limited resources for emergency equipment. The requirement to have in force and effectively collect the domestic water tax links the aid to the financial sustainability of municipal services, while the limit of 20,000 euros per council and the fixed unit amounts condition the actual scope of the actions that each locality can undertake.
