The Provincial Council of Segovia initially approves the 2026 budget

Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary Session of the Provincial Council of Segovia initially approved, in a session held on November 27, 2025, the 2026 General Budget, the economic roadmap of the provincial institution for the next fiscal year. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Segovia, number 144, dated December 1, 2025, and opens a period of 15 business days for public exhibition and claims.

The budget is processed in accordance with the provisions of Article 112 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Government, and Article 169 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Revised Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries. The announcement, signed on November 28, 2025, by the Secretary General, M.ª Lourdes Merino Ibáñez, is displayed to the public for examination.

A budget in two blocks

The 2026 General Budget consists of two separate statements of expenditure and income:

  • The Budget of the Provincial Council.
  • The Budget of the Autonomous Body Prodestur, an entity dependent on the institution.

Both blocks make up the economic document that will govern the activity of the corporation and its autonomous body for tourism promotion and development during the next fiscal year.

Period for exhibition and claims

During the public exhibition period, legitimate interested parties according to Article 170.1 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004 may submit claims for the reasons listed in number 2 of the same legal provision. The essential details of the procedure are:

  • Period for exhibition and claims: fifteen business days starting from the day following the date of publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the province.
  • Submission office: General Registry of the Most Excellent Provincial Council.
  • Body before which claims are filed: Plenary Session of the Most Excellent Provincial Council.

Processing and final approval

The budget will be considered definitively approved if no claims have been submitted during the aforementioned period. Otherwise, the Plenary will have a period of one month to resolve them, after which the document will become final.

The initial approval of the provincial budget is added to the budgetary processing of other bodies in the territory, such as the Esteban Vicente Museum of Contemporary Art, whose 2026 budget was definitively approved as no claims were submitted during its exhibition period.

The publication of this agreement turns the budget into the instrument that sets the spending and investment priorities of the Provincial Council and Prodestur for 2026, and opens the possibility for citizens and interested parties to file objections before its final approval, guaranteeing transparency and democratic control of the provincial public accounts.
