The Provincial Council of León extends deadlines for fire plan grants

The Provincial Council of León has modified the regulatory bases of the call for grants, under a competitive bidding process, destined for town councils with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants in the province included in Annex III of the INFOCAL Plan, for the drafting of local emergency action plans for forest fires for the year 2026. The agreement, adopted by the Governing Board on August 28, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 171, dated September 8, 2026, with reference BOP-LE-2026-171001.

The modification affects the first and tenth bases of the call, initially approved by agreement of the Governing Board on February 13, 2026. The full text can be consulted in the National Grants Database (BDNS), with identifier 891602, in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Extended execution and justification deadlines

The first base, regarding the object and purpose, now sets the execution period for the subsidized activity from April 20, 2025, to June 21, 2027. For its part, the tenth base, on the deadline and form of justification, establishes that the accreditation of compliance with the imposed conditions and the achievement of the objectives provided for in the granting act must be submitted no later than July 31, 2027.

Publication and notification

The agreement also provides for the publication of the modification in the National Grants Database, in the Official Gazette of the Province of León, and on the Electronic Office of the Provincial Council of León, as well as its notification to the interested town councils. The document appears signed in León on September 4, 2026, by the Provincial Deputy for Ecological Transition, by virtue of Resolution no. 9827, of July 31, 2025.

Impact on rural municipalities

The extension of the deadlines benefits dozens of rural municipalities in the province, which will have more leeway to draft and justify their local action plans against forest fires, a key instrument for prevention and emergency coordination within the framework of the INFOCAL Plan. The measure responds to the difficulties faced by small town councils in completing the documentation within the initially planned deadlines, reinforcing the territory’s preparation capacity against the risk of fires.
