Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Council of León has opened the application period to distribute 25,000 euros in grants among athletes from the province who compete individually in Olympic or Paralympic disciplines. The call, approved by the corporation’s Governing Board on September 25, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 197, dated October 16, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-197001 and code BDNS 935067. Interested parties have fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary.
The announcement is the summary of the agreement approving the call and the regulatory bases, disseminated in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17. The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Grants Database, at the address associated with code 935067.
The issuing body is the Provincial Council of León, which signed the announcement in León on October 7, 2026, through the Deputy Delegate for Youth and Sport, by delegation of signature from the President of the corporation (Resolution no. 10355/2023, of September 13). The announcement occupies pages 3 and 4 of the provincial gazette.
Requirements: high Olympic and Paralympic level
The bases precisely define who is eligible for these grants, which are intended to reward sporting results achieved and to support high-level competitive sports practice:
- Participate individually in sporting disciplines included in the official Olympic and/or Paralympic program.
- Have been born in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants in the province of León.
- If not a native of those municipalities, provide proof of at least one year of residency (empadronamiento) in them.
- Provide proof of results from the 2025/2026 or 2026 season, the end date of which is set for October 20, 2026.
The territorial criterion focuses the call on the rural areas of León, as it excludes athletes born in the most populous towns of the province.
Amount and deadlines
The financial allocation and processing schedules are established in the published summary:
- Total amount of the call: 25,000.00 euros.
- Deadline for submission of applications and documentation: fifteen business days from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of the Province of León.
- Justification period: fifteen days from the day following the notification of the grant award.
How and where to submit the application
The processing is carried out entirely electronically, in accordance with the following instructions included in the announcement:
- The application form and the remaining annexes are available on the Diputación de León website (www.dipuleon.es), by accessing the “Ciudadanía” (Citizenship) link and, from there, “Deportes” (Sports).
- Applications are submitted through the electronic office of the Diputación de León (https://sede.dipuleon.es), by selecting “Catálogo de trámites” (Procedure Catalog) and entering “Instancia general” (General Request).
- Documentation must be provided in accordance with the provisions of the sixth clause of the regulatory bases of the call.
The call comes at a time when the sports season is entering its final stretch, set for October 20, 2026, so that athletes from small municipalities who have competed in the Olympic or Paralympic circuit have a direct funding route to consolidate their preparation. For the Leonese rural environment, the distribution of these 25,000 euros represents institutional recognition for athletes who usually compete far from their hometowns and with limited support structures.
