The Provincial Council of Cuenca resolves the grants for 225 municipalities with fewer than 1,800 inhabitants

The Provincial Council of Cuenca has finalized the proposed resolution for the call for grants to city councils and smaller local entities in the province with a population of fewer than 1,800 inhabitants, aimed at promoting the implementation and improvement of municipal services for the year 2026. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca number 102, dated September 4, 2026, under number 2100.

The call, managed by the Budgetary Management and Grants Unit of the Council, is directed at small municipalities in Cuenca, which constitute the majority of the province’s municipal map. The provisional proposal was published in BOP number 95, dated August 19, 2026, and after the 10-business-day period for submitting allegations had passed, no claims were registered. In light of the report from the Evaluation Commission, held on September 3, 2026, and once the instruction procedure was completed, the provisional proposal has been made final.

A distribution reaching 225 entities

Annex I of the resolution admits the applications of 225 city councils and local entities smaller than a municipality, with granted amounts ranging from 8,280 to 43,400 euros. Most beneficiaries receive the full amount requested, although some see their amount adjusted, such as El Pedernoso, which goes from 250,000 to 36,695 euros, or Paredes, which reduces its amount from 12,000 to 9,220 euros.

Among the municipalities with the highest granted amounts are:

• Villar de Olalla, with 43,400 euros
• Belmonte, with 41,012 euros
• Campillo de Altobuey and Sisante, with 39,680 euros each
• Sotorribas, with 39,665 euros
• Landete, with 39,125 euros

A single exclusion

Annex II records the exclusion of Huete, the reason being that it exceeds 1,800 inhabitants according to figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE), in application of article 7 of the call’s regulations. This is the only application excluded for this year.

Deadline to accept or waive

Beneficiary entities have 10 business days, counting from the day following the publication in the BOP and/or on the notice board of the Council’s electronic headquarters (https://sede.dipucuenca.es), to communicate their acceptance or waiver of the grant. Acceptance will be understood as tacit if the waiver is not expressly stated within that period, and will entail agreement with all terms of the grant and the conditions of its execution.

The final resolution consolidates an essential line of support for the budgets of the province’s small municipalities, which depend on these grants to maintain and improve the basic services they provide to their residents. The proposal is signed by Francisco López López, deputy of the Budgetary Management and Grants Unit.
