The Provincial Council of Cuenca makes grants for small municipalities final

The Provincial Council of Cuenca has finalized the proposed resolution for the call for grants to city councils and smaller local entities in the province with a population of fewer than 1,800 inhabitants, aimed at promoting the implementation and improvement of municipal services for the 2026 fiscal year. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca number 102, dated September 4, 2026, under reference NO. 2100, signed by the deputy of the Budgetary Management and Grants Unit, Francisco López López.

The decision comes after the expiration of the 10 business day period to submit allegations to the provisional proposal, published in BOP number 95 on August 19, 2026, without any claims being registered. In light of the report issued by the Evaluation Commission, held on September 3, 2026, and once the instruction procedure was concluded, the Council confirms that the beneficiaries meet all the requirements to access the call.

Beneficiaries and amounts

ANNEX I of the announcement admits the applications of dozens of city councils and local entities smaller than a municipality, with amounts that in most cases are granted in full for the value requested. Among the highest amounts are:

• Villar de Olalla: 43,400.00 euros.
• Belmonte: 41,012.00 euros.
• Campillo de Altobuey and Sisante: 39,680.00 euros each.
• Sotorribas: 39,665.00 euros.
• Fuente de Pedro Naharro: 39,350.00 euros.
• Landete: 39,125.00 euros.

In some cases, the amount granted is lower than requested, as is the case with El Pedernoso, which requested 250,000.00 euros and received 36,695.00, or Enguídanos, which went from 21,309.00 to 20,610.00 euros. Virtually all files are granted for the full amount requested.

Exclusion and acceptance process

ANNEX II contains the only exclusion from the call: the city council of Huete, whose application is rejected for exceeding 1,800 inhabitants according to INE figures, in application of article 7 of the regulations governing the call.

Admitted entities have a period of 10 business days starting from the day following the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cuenca and on the notice board of the electronic headquarters of the Council of Cuenca (https://sede.dipucuenca.es) to communicate their acceptance or waiver of the grant. The grant will be understood as accepted if the waiver is not expressly stated within that period, and acceptance implies agreement with all the terms of the award and the conditions of its execution.

Impact on local financing

The call for applications represents direct support for the funding of the smallest municipalities in the province, which lack sufficient own resources to maintain and improve their basic services. As this is the final resolution, the beneficiary town halls can now plan the execution of municipal service improvement projects with the certainty of having the granted aid, in a context where depopulation and budgetary limitations condition the management of a large part of the Cuenca territory.
