The Provincial Council of Castellón makes 1.7 million in credits final

Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Council of Castellón has finalized file 5/2026 for budget modification, which includes extraordinary credits and credit supplements for a total of 1,700,000 euros. The decision, adopted after no claims were filed, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) of Castellón number 103, dated August 27, 2026.

The file was initially approved by the Plenary of the Council in an extraordinary and urgent session held on July 31, 2026, and was published in BOP number 92, dated August 1, 2026, for the purpose of filing claims. Since none were submitted, the approval is now finalized in accordance with article 177.2 of the Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Revised Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries.

Financing with treasury surplus

The entire operation is financed with a treasury surplus, without resorting to new debt. The full amount is allocated to chapter 8 of financial assets, for a total of 1,700,000 euros.

  • Financing: treasury surplus, chapter 8 (financial assets), 1,700,000 €.
  • Total financing: 1,700,000 €.

Destination of credits

The funds are allocated entirely to current transfers, divided between extraordinary credits and credit supplements. The distribution is as follows:

  • Extraordinary credits: chapter 4 (current transfers), 200,000 €.
  • Credit supplement: chapter 4 (current transfers), 1,500,000 €.
  • Total increases: 1,700,000 €.

Deadlines and appeals

An administrative appeal may be filed against the final approval of the file within two months, starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOP, before the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.

The announcement, signed in Castellón de la Plana on August 25, 2026, bears the signatures of the president, Marta Barrachina Mateu, and the secretary general, Manuel Pesudo Esteve.

Relevance for municipalities

The finalization of this file allows the Council to have additional liquidity to strengthen its current transfers, which translates into resources reaching the municipalities of the province. Since it is financed with a treasury surplus, the operation does not increase provincial indebtedness, a relevant fact for budget management and for the city councils receiving these transfers.
