The Provincial Council of Cádiz resolves 106,170 euros in historical memory grants

The Provincial Council of Cádiz has definitively approved the granting of 106,170.87 euros in subsidies for Historical and Democratic Memory projects to 14 local entities in the province, out of an allocated credit of 110,000.00 euros. The decision is formalized in decree MEMOR-00040-2026, dated July 31, 2026, issued by the second vice-president and delegated deputy for Ecological Transition and Citizenship Development, Francisco Javier Vidal Pérez, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz number 182, dated September 21, 2026, under edict number 305.215.

A competitive bidding call

The call was approved by decree MEMOR-00017-2026, dated March 27, 2026, and published in the BOP no. 74, dated April 21, 2026. It is aimed at local entities and is processed under a competitive bidding regime, in accordance with article 17.3.e) of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the tenth clause of the regulatory bases.

The expenditure was authorized by decree MEMOR-00019-2026, dated April 6, 2026, charged to budget application 30/334B/46200 with a maximum subsidizable amount of 10,000.00 euros per project and entity. The list of admitted entities and the request for correction were published by decree MEMOR-00029-2026, dated June 5, 2026.

The 14 beneficiaries and their projects

Annex II of the decree details the beneficiary entities and the amounts granted:

• Benalup City Council: 4,741.99 euros for “The Events of Casas Viejas. 93rd anniversary. 1933-2026”.
• Mancomunidad de Municipios de La Janda: 10,000.00 euros for “Memories of La Janda”.
• Trebujena City Council: 10,000.00 euros for conferences, tributes, and the dignification of access to the Civil Courtyard of the municipal cemetery.
• Puerto Serrano City Council: 10,000.00 euros for phase II of the archaeological and anthropological intervention in the municipal cemetery.
• San José del Valle City Council: 6,000.00 euros for “Memory and Democratic Education”.
• Medina Sidonia City Council: 8,000.00 euros for “Voices of Memory”.
• El Bosque City Council: 4,000.00 euros for a series of lectures on democratic and historical identity.
• Alcalá de los Gazules City Council: 8,500.00 euros for “Alcalá with Memory”.
• Algodonales City Council: 3,250.00 euros for conferences and democratic tributes.
• Bornos City Council: 10,000.00 euros for “Bornos: Living Memory 2026”.
• Alcalá del Valle City Council: 10,000.00 euros for historical and democratic memory actions.
• San Roque City Council: 10,000.00 euros for genetic collection from relatives and anthropological study of ossuaries.
• Setenil de las Bodegas City Council: 10,000.00 euros for the Historical and Democratic Memory Route.
• Paterna de Rivera City Council: 1,678.88 euros for the 2026 Historical Memory Week.

28 projects evaluated against 110,000 euros in credit

Annex I contains the final evaluation of the 28 admitted projects, ordered from highest to lowest score, totaling 231,320.87 euros in requests, more than double the available credit. The Evaluation Commission met on June 25, 2026, and signed its minutes on July 7; on July 8, a report was issued regarding compliance with Article 13 of the General Subsidies Law.

The provisional resolution, decree MEMOR-00035-2026, dated July 10, 2026, was published on the electronic notice board on July 13, with a 10-day period for appeals. The Commission resolved the appeals on July 28 —submitted by the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Sierra de Cádiz— and signed the final minutes on July 29, 2026.

Publication and parallel line for associations

The resolution is published on the notice and edicts board of the Provincial Council website and in the Official Provincial Gazette, in accordance with point 11 of the regulatory bases. Along the same lines, the BOP no. 181, of September 18, 2026, published the final resolution of the parallel call for non-profit entities, decree MEMOR-00042-2026, endowed with 100,000.00 euros.

The allocation closes the 2026 procedure and secures funding for city councils and associations of municipalities for excavations, victim censuses, tributes, and publications, although it leaves half of the admitted projects without aid: applications doubled the budget and 14 initiatives are excluded due to lack of credit.
