The Provincial Council of Badajoz announces a vacancy for a Senior Professor of Accompanying Piano

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has announced selective tests to permanently fill a vacant civil servant position for Senior Professor of Accompanying Piano, classified in group A, subgroup A1. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 181, dated September 22, 2026, via Announcement 3664/2026, through the Functional Area of Public Employees, Occupational Health and Safety. The deadline for submitting applications will be 20 business days starting from the day following the publication of an extract of the call in the Official State Gazette.

One position from the 2026 public employment offer

The provision will be carried out via the open entry system through a competitive examination process (concurso-oposición). The position belongs to the Special Administration scale, Technical subscale, Superior class, and is included in the 2026 public employment offer of the Provincial Council of Badajoz and its autonomous bodies, approved by resolution of the Presidency on April 17, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 81, dated April 29, 2026.

Applicants must hold or be in a position to obtain the official university degree of Bachelor’s in Music, Higher Degree in Music, or analogous academic training in the specialty of Performance, Piano track, or an equivalent degree from official higher artistic education. In the case of foreign qualifications, a credential of homologation or validation will be required.

Fees, deadlines, and electronic submission

The application must be processed electronically through the corporate electronic office of the Council of Badajoz, using a digital certificate, and requires the provision of a telephone number and email address. The examination fee amounts are:

• General rate for subgroup A1: 37.76 euros.
• Unemployed rate: 18.88 euros.
• Large family (general category): 18.88 euros (50% discount).
• Large family (general category) in a situation of unemployment: 9.44 euros.
• Exempt: large families (special category) and victims of terrorism, as well as their spouses, domestic partners, and children.

Payment is made via self-assessment by card, form 40, indicating the text “Convocatoria Profesor Superior Piano Acompañante” in the “detail” field. Failure to submit the application or pay the fee within the deadline will not be subject to correction.

Two eliminatory exercises and merits phase

The Selection Tribunal will consist of five members—a Presidency, three vocals, and a Secretariat—with an equal number of substitutes. The process consists of two phases:

• Competitive phase, up to 20 points: first theoretical-practical exercise of 10 points, divided into the performance of a concert program of at least three different styles and authors (approximate maximum of 45 minutes, 5 points) and a lesson for a student of professional or higher education (maximum 30 minutes, 5 points); and a second exercise of 10 points, consisting of the written development of two topics drawn from five, in a maximum of 130 minutes.
• Merit phase, up to 8 points: only for those who pass the competitive phase, with 0.133 points per month of effective service in a position equal to the one offered, up to a maximum of 60 months.

The maximum total score is 28 points. Once the process is concluded, a waiting list or job pool will be created with those who do not obtain a position but pass at least the first exercise. Proposed candidates will have 20 business days to submit documentation and 30 business days to take possession as career civil servants.

Calendar and Syllabus

Once the application period has ended, the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be issued within a maximum of two months, with 10 business days for corrections; the final list will be approved within the following 15 business days. The start of the procedure will take place within six months from the end of the application period, and the resolution will not exceed 12 months. The syllabus is listed in Annex I of the call, with a general block of constitutional, administrative, and local regulations and a specific block of piano performance. The rules were signed by Ramón Díaz Farias, third vice president and delegated deputy of the Area of Public Employees, Safety and Health at Work, by delegation of the Decree 10/29/2025.

The call opens a stable public employment route in the province for musicians with higher degrees, a specialty with a scarce offer of permanent positions, and reinforces the staff of the provincial institution in the field of artistic education.
