La Diputación de Badajoz concede dos millones para centros de mayores

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has resolved to grant 2,030,916.16 euros in subsidies to municipalities and smaller local entities in the province for equipment and rehabilitation, renovation, and repair works in municipal day centers and elderly residences. The decision is signed by the president of the corporation, Raquel del Puerto Carrasco, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz no. 194, dated October 9, 2026, under reference Announcement 3975/2026.

The distribution stems from the call for the 2026 Social Services Plan, under an ordinary non-competitive concurrence regime, aimed at municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and smaller local entities. The guidelines were published in the BOP on May 14, 2026 (Announcement 1672/2026) and the resolution complies with the provisions of guideline 7.

The processing included the agreement of the valuation commission on September 11, 2026, the proposed resolution from the Coordinator of Social Welfare and International Cooperation on September 14, 2026, and the favorable report from the Provincial Comptroller on October 6, 2026. The grant is supported by the delegation of the Presidency by decree on October 29, 2025 (BOP 10/29/25, supplement I of bulletin no. 206), Article 34 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime, and Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, with its regulation approved by Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21.

Distribution among 79 municipalities and one smaller local entity

  • 2,008,133.46 euros correspond to 79 municipalities in the province.
  • 22,782.70 euros are allocated to the smaller local entity of Zurbarán.
  • Highest amounts granted: Oliva de la Frontera (€58,639.00), Montijo (€58,398.90), Guareña (€54,887.01), Barcarrota (€50,321.23) and San Vicente de Alcántara (€49,917.91).
  • Other notable allocations: Santa Amalia (€46,999.79), Fuenlabrada de los Montes (€45,284.84), Arroyo de San Serván (€44,762.95), Calamonte (€43,309.95), La Albuera (€42,743.88) and Monesterio (€42,152.13).
  • Lowest amounts: Zarza-Capilla (€8,532.66), Sancti Spiritus (€10,037.23), Retamal de Llerena (€10,147.63) and La Haba (€10,702.35).

Financing and expenditure control

The expenditure is charged to budget applications 11/2311/76200/1000, with 2,008,133.46 euros, and 11/2311/76800/1000, with 22,782.70 euros, from the current expenditure budget of the provincial corporation.

Recipients must justify the funds received in accordance with Article 189.2 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the revised text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries. The resolution shall be forwarded to the Plenary of the Provincial Corporation in its next ordinary session and shall be published in the BOP and in the National Grants Database (BDNS).

One denied application and appeal process

The resolution denies the grant to the City Council of Llera, after dismissing its appeal for reconsideration filed on May 21, 2026, for failing to meet the conditions of the call by not having accredited places for dependent persons as of December 31, 2025. It appears from the file that the remaining beneficiaries meet all the requirements to access the aid. The Secretary General, Enrique Pedrero Balas, recorded the resolution for its transcription into the electronic book of resolutions.

Against the resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, an optional appeal for reconsideration may be filed before the President of the Provincial Council within one month from the day following its publication, or directly a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Courts of Badajoz.

The measure injects more than two million euros into the maintenance of the provincial network for elderly care, with a special impact on small municipalities that maintain municipal-owned day centers and residences with limited resources.
