The Alicante Provincial Council distributes 598,000 euros among sports clubs.

The Provincial Council of Alicante has resolved the call for the Aid Plan for Clubs for the organization of sporting events of special interest, fiscal year 2026 (PAEVEI 2026), and distributes a total of 598,000 euros among the sports entities of the province. The resolution, adopted by Decree of the Deputy for Sports no. 3584, of August 6, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante no. 152, of August 13, 2026, with reference 6249/2026.

The call was approved by agreement of the Governing Board of the Provincial Council on June 3, 2026, and its excerpt was published in BOP no. 106, of June 8, 2026. The subsidizable activities had to take place between October 16, 2025, and October 15, 2026. The Deputy for Sports acted under the powers delegated by Presidential Decree no. 3,407, of July 27, 2026, in relation to no. 3,328, of July 28, 2023 (BOP no. 150, of August 4, 2023), at the proposal of the instructing body and subject to the favorable report of the Evaluation Committee, meeting on July 31, 2026, and of the Provincial Funds Comptroller. The expenditure, 598,000.00 euros, is charged to budget item 22.3411.4832000.

104 beneficiary entities in two lines

The distribution approved in resolution proposal PR/2026/4253, of August 5, 2026, provides for two lines. Line 1 includes 18 entities organizing major events, with grants of up to 30,555 euros, and Line 2 grants 86 clubs amounts ranging from 2,000 to 10,001 euros. Among the largest subsidies are:

• Spanish Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation (Spanish Senior Kickboxing Championship): €30,555.
• Santa Pola Athletics Club (34th Vila de Santa Pola International Half Marathon 2026): €29,445.
• Ultra Trail Muntanyes de L’Alcoià i el Comtat Club (IV Ultramediterranía Terres de Trail 2026): €29,445.
• Bola de Oro Tennis Club of Alicante (XLVIII Alicante Tennis Circuit “Diputación Trophy”): €29,444.
• Alicante Automobile Club (Onil International Hill Climb 2026): €27,778.
• Elche Decathlon Athletics Club (53rd Ciudad de Elche International Half Marathon and 10K 2026): €27,223.
• Benidorm Foietes Handball Club (Handball International Tournament 2026): €25,556.
• Juan Carlos Ferrero Tennis Club of Villena (Alicante Ferrero ATP Challenger 2026): €23,335.

Completing Line 1 are the Spanish Boxing Federation (Boxam International Youth and Junior 2026), La Nucía Tennis Club (David Ferrer international tournament), the Federació d’Esports de Muntanya i Escalada de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Spanish Sports Press Association of Alicante.

Rejections and waivers

Annex II lists 15 rejected applications, most for failing to reach the minimum score of 68 points required for Line 2 (point 11, section 2.1 of the call), for not proving the national nature of the activity as participation from other autonomous communities did not exceed 25% (point 11, section 6) or because they were charitable activities, excluded from the concept of special interest (point 8, section 5). Among those rejected are the Fundación Lucentum Baloncesto Alicante, Club Atletismo San Vicente, Club Rugby Touch Relleu, Club Deportivo Santa Lucía de Alcoy, Club Natación Oceanman, Asociación Alzheimer de Torrevieja and Club de Caza y Tiro La Moderna Contestana.

Another seven applications are recorded as withdrawn: six entities submitted a withdrawal by registration between June and July 2026 —Club Náutico Jávea, Club Ajedrez Arturo Pomar, AMCMEC de Elche, Bosma Beach Volleyball Club, Club Sportiu Corredors de Callosa and Rugbi L’Alcudia Club Esportiu— and Club de Lucha Palestra did not remedy requirement 2026-S-RE-14041.

Deadlines for justification

Beneficiaries must justify the subsidy within 30 days from notification of the resolution or from the end of the activity. For activities held between 15 September and 1 October, the maximum justification deadline concludes on 15 October 2026, using form 1B available on the Provincial Council’s electronic office.

Grants under €30,000 are justified without providing invoices, although the original documentation must be kept for at least four years. Failure to justify within the deadline entails the loss of the right to payment or the reimbursement of amounts already paid, and entities that did not justify the 2025 grant are excluded from the plan.

Appeals

Against the resolution, which ends the administrative route, an appeal for reconsideration may be filed within one month before the body that issued the act, or an administrative contentious appeal within two months before the Court of Instance of Alacant/Alicante. Publication in the BOP serves as notification to all interested parties.

The agreement consolidates the Provincial Council’s support for the provincial sports calendar, from athletics, cycling and tennis to chess, handball, boxing or water sports, with a direct effect on municipalities such as Alicante, Elche, Santa Pola, Villena, Benidorm, La Nucía or Calpe, which turn these events into a tourist and economic boost.
