The Provincial Council of Alicante grants 24.5 million to the 2026 consumption vouchers

The Plenary of the Provincial Council of Alicante, in an extraordinary and urgent session held on September 23, 2026, has approved the resolution for the call for grants for the Bono-Consumo 2026 campaigns and has authorized an expenditure of 25,000,000.00 euros. The resolution grants aid totaling 24,554,192.00 euros to 125 city councils and smaller local entities in the province. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP) No. 183, of September 25, 2026, under reference 7280/2026.

The call and its regulatory bases were approved by the Plenary in an extraordinary session on July 21, 2026, and published in BOP No. 137, of July 23, 2026. Its purpose is to promote, together with the city councils, local commerce and the hospitality and services sectors of the province’s municipalities through consumption promotion campaigns.

The agreement now published lifts the suspensive conditions of the second point of the July agreement: the entry into force of the credit modification file No. 7P/2026 and the procurement by the Generalitat Valenciana of the non-duplication and financial sustainability reports provided for in Article 7.4 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime.

Distribution by municipalities

The global expenditure of 24,554,192.00 euros is allocated to the budget application 25.4312.4620200, titled “Grants to City Councils for the implementation of consumption promotion campaigns: Bono-Consumo in your Municipalities 2026”. The largest allocations are:

• Alacant/Alicante: 1,989,076.00 euros (file 17034/2026).
• Elche/Elx: 1,495,455.00 euros (16819/2026).
• Torrevieja: 893,995.00 euros (16937/2026).
• Orihuela: 836,833.00 euros (16637/2026).
• Benidorm: 807,244.00 euros (17274/2026).
• Alcoi/Alcoy: 742,366.00 euros (16751/2026).
• Sant Vicent del Raspeig: 737,371.00 euros (17059/2026).
• Elda: 716,815.00 euros (16777/2026).

Four municipalities with reduced grants

Most entities receive 100% of the requested amount, but four do not reach that figure:

• Aspe: 326,429.00 euros out of 427,429.00 (76.37%).
• Benitachell/Poble Nou de Benitatxell (El): 111,043.00 out of 144,000.00 (77.11%).
• Torrevieja: 893,995.00 out of 910,000.00 (98.24%).
• Vall d’Ebo (La): 16,998.00 out of 17,010.00 (99.92%).

Deadlines, advance payment, and appeals

No city council has waived the advance payment; therefore, the Provincial Council will advance the grant amount to all requesting entities. The execution period for the eligible action spans from the publication of the call, July 23, 2026, until December 31, 2026, the deadline for the city council to make the effective payment of obligations. The justification that the funds have been allocated to the intended purpose may be submitted until January 31, 2027.

Against the agreement, which concludes the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Court of First Instance of Alacant/Alicante. The resolution is signed by the Head of Service, the Provincial Deputy for Economic Development and European Projects, and the Vice-Secretary.

The vouchers translate into direct discounts for consumers at participating shops in each municipality, such that the distribution conditions the shopping campaign throughout the province during the last quarter of the year. City councils must now select their collaborating entity and execute the aid before December 31, 2026.
