The Plenary of the Most Excellent Provincial Council of Albacete, in an extraordinary session held on September 2, 2026, approved the creation of twelve new job positions in the Job Position Schedule (RPT) for civil service personnel, including nine SEPEI Mechanic-Driver-Firefighter and two Radio Operator positions, intended to reinforce the fire stations of Alcaraz, Molinicos, and La Roda. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete, number 106, dated September 11, 2026, within the third Section of Local Administration, through the Human Resources Service.
The decision was adopted in the fourth item of the agenda, corresponding to file 1628349X, based on the report from the Permanent Information Commission of Presidency, Personnel, Internal Regulations, Economy, Treasury, and Heritage, dated August 6, 2026. The agreement also provides for the creation of one teaching position and the possibility that a labor personnel position may be filled by staff from other administrations.
Reinforcement of fire stations
The bulk of the measure is concentrated in the SEPEI (Fire Prevention and Extinction Service), with the creation of nine Mechanic-Driver-Firefighter positions, all of qualification group C2, to be filled by competitive examination, with a C2 base salary, destination supplement level 16, and a specific supplement that includes general, singular, hardship for shift work, and special functional dedication components. Their distribution by station is as follows:
- Alcaraz: four positions (codes F-21-0551-0045, F-21-0551-0065, F-21-0551-0085, and F-21-0551-0095).
- Molinicos: four positions (codes F-21-0551-0105, F-21-0551-0115, F-21-0551-0135, and F-21-0551-0155).
- La Roda: one position (code F-21-0551-0165).
Added to these are two SEPEI Mechanic-Driver-Firefighter Radio Operator positions (codes F-21-543-0010 and F-21-543-0020), with the same group, level, and specific supplement, responsible for permanently maintaining telephone and radio communications and transmitting operational orders and alarm notices to the stations and forest detachments.
Operational and emergency functions
The new personnel will assume tasks inherent to the fire extinction and emergency service, most notably:
- Fire extinction work, rescues, salvage, lifesaving, and special operations.
- Use and preventive maintenance of vehicles, as well as clothing, personal equipment, and materials under their charge.
- Reporting for duty when required to attend accidents or cover minimum staffing levels, with the corresponding compensation.
- Intervention in civil protection operations in accordance with territorial and special plans.
- Training of personnel external to the Service at the stations.
A teaching position and openness to other administrations
The agreement also includes the creation of a Harmony and Composition Professor position (code F-44-215-0080), within the A1 qualification group, with a destination supplement level of 26 and provision by competition, whose duties consist of teaching classes in their specialty and carrying out their work through the Sedipualba electronic administration platform. Finally, it is made possible for position L-55-164-0010 “Assistant Hydrogeology Service,” from the RPT of labor personnel, to be held interchangeably by labor personnel from other public administrations, entities, and public sector companies.
The measure represents a significant reinforcement of the SEPEI’s operational capacity in the rural areas of the province, where the Alcaraz, Molinicos, and La Roda parks guarantee the coverage of firefighting and emergency services. The expansion of the workforce, together with the internal promotion selection processes for SEPEI Corporal and Sergeant already underway, points to a consolidation of the provincial fire service in a context of growing demand for civil protection.
